Aggies Battle, Fall 19-13 to No. 4 Georgia
Nov 23, 2019

ATHENS, Ga. (AP)--George Pickens scored Georgia's only touchdown, Rodrigo Blankenship booted four field goals and the defense stymied Texas A&M, leading the No. 4 Bulldogs to a 19-13 victory over the 24th-ranked Aggies on Saturday.

Georgia (10-1, 7-1 Southeastern Conference, No. 4 CFP) wrapped up its conference schedule and stayed on course to make a run at the College Football Playoff.

While the Bulldogs struggled offensively, the defense turned in another dominating performance. Texas A&M (7-4, 4-3) was held to just minus-1 yards rushing and 274 yards overall, one week after piling up 319 yards on the ground in a rout of South Carolina.

But it was a struggle all the way for the Bulldogs, who managed only 260 total yards and didn't seal the victory under D'Andre Swift broke off an 11-yard run on third-and-1 with 2 1/2 minutes remaining.

Blankenship connected on field goals of 41, 49, 37 and 31 yards to become Georgia's career scoring leader with 418 points. He passed Marshall Morgan (407), Billy Bennett (409) and previous leader Blair Walsh (412).

Athens was hit by heavy rain before the game, and another line of torrential storms struck again in the second quarter, keeping famed mascot Uga X confined to his doghouse.

Then, suddenly, the showers cleared.

So did the cloud over the Georgia offense.

Just after sun broke through the clouds, bathing the towering north stands in light, Pickens slipped free along the right side of the end zone and hauled in a 16-yard pass from Jake Fromm, pushing the Bulldogs to a 13-3 lead at halftime.

It was not a sign of things to come.

Georgia kept settling for field goals until Texas A&M finally reached the end zone with their most impressive drive of the game. Going 75 yards in 10 plays, the Aggies scored on Kellen Mond's 19-yard touchdown pass to Jhamon Ausbon with 11:16 remaining.

Postgame Notes

ABOUT THE GAME ---
With the 19-13 loss to the No. 4 Bulldogs, the Aggies fell to 7-4 overall and 4-3 against SEC opponents. All four of Texas A&M's defeats this season have come against teams ranked in the top 15 of the current College Football Playoff ranking – No. 3 Clemson, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 Alabama and No. 15 Auburn.
Texas A&M was facing Georgia for the first time since joining the SEC in 2012, and it was the Aggies' first trip to Athens and Sanford Stadium since 1980.

Still have not came to College Station..

It's a problem for sure. The 9 game slate would have fixed this.

The SEC is bad at scheduling.

So let's give them more control over the scheduling so we can bitch about it more.

I’m not sure why everyone fixates on this so much. They aren’t good.

the cloud over the Georgia offense.

boy if this doensn't sum up coley's tenure here I don't know what does.

Wiht as good as our dfense was in 2019, and the weapons we had on offense, it's crazy how much better we could've been with a competent OC.

Althoguh now that I really think about it I suppose nothing would've changed. We would've beat SC for sure but still lost to LSu and probably played in the sugar bowl still (which we already won) so I guess it didn't matter. It'd have been a lot less painful to watch though.

3 things you’re guaranteed in life: death, taxes, and Georgia ducking SEC West teams

If you lesser programs want to test yourself against the best program in CFB, you’ll have to earn that right and meet us in Atlanta in early December.

Is that clear? We run this conference now.

Gulp.
I don't think we've ever played Alabama A&M.
I'm not sure why any of this matters.

I am sort of over the everybody playing everybody idea.

The SEC may expand again soon and things change again.

Just keep the 1 + 7 model and move on.

Nobody really cares that A&M and Georgia haven't hardly played. If you wouldn't have said it I wouldn't have known it.

There are actually 2 games that the SEC screwed us on. UGA @A&M & A&M @UK. It bothers UK and A&M we haven’t been to Lexington. UGA fans doesn’t care to play us at Kyle. They don’t get we are mad at getting cheated out of a home game like UK has too.

It really is a shame we havent played more than one game in the decade plus that we've been in the conference. That's why I dont see how the league doesnt go to more conference games with the addition of the two new teams. I mean, whats the point of being in the same conference as another school if you arent playing regularly? I think we havent played Kentucky but a couple of times either, the scheduling just flat out sucks right now.

We played them once at Kyle, it went to OT. Benny Snell days. Their QB was limited.

Bc you might lose or you’d play. You guys would shite yourselves playing A&M, Bama or LSU annually. Only you guys thump your chest playing in the East. Saying, “we will win bc we are Georgia” sounds retarded when we can match your talent.

That's good. We don't have a history with them and they shouldn't be in the SEC, same with mizzou, texas & ou. Don't care about playing any of them till bowl or playoffs.

One of these is not like the other two. Congrats on hiring a scummy version of Mark Richt though. Money well spent.
