You have 16 5* players and 46 4* players, more talent than any team in the history of college football, on one roster and you beat a group of 49 scrubs by 7 points....at home.
I wouldn’t call Auburn’s team scrubs and we won by 21

Do you think some 3rd string/walk ons didn’t play at all when the ones who started needed a rest?

I bet. We were decimated

That’s a play called Mesh, vs Zone they find a spot and settle, vs Man they keep running. I believe vs man was the TD pass they hit wher the WR climbs after they cross.
I'm not sure that is mesh.
Mesh is essentially a pick play.
But different coaches use different terminology. No need to get bent out of shape on semantics.
The first TD was a cross against man covg. Other big 3rd downs were also against man. State was ready for the blitzes (just like against lsu). Our defensive playbook and philosophy has a lot of film out there. Bama, UF, and Miss st picked up on when we were going to be aggressive and made us pay. Like I said... good coaching for the QB to recognize and good playcalling by OCs
quote:
Their starting safety just opted out, I’d guess they were grasping at straws for who would fare better vs what UGA was doing
You probably dont understand what the Miss St defensive coordinator did all game. They called cover 1 and cover 0 all game. They forced their safeties (not cornerbacks... safeties) to play man coverage against JT Daniel's and Burton/Jackson all game.
The end result is 400 yards against a QB who hadnt taken a snap in 15 months.
That defense shouldnt be called with Bama/UF/LSU personnel. A DB defender is asked to do 3 things. Tackle in space. Zone coverage. Man coverage. Which of those 3 do you think a safety dreads? Which of those 3 is harder when you line up 10 to 15 yards off the LOS? Daniels picked on the safety not because he was a 3 to 4 star talent. He picked on the safety because he was in an impossible assignment. The defensive playcall is 100 times more relevant than the player who is on the field. Leach picked on defenders in man coverage too (nickel defender which is essentially a safety body) who has to line up in man against their fastest receiver. Start paying attention in games as to who gets picked on and why. It usually has to do with body type and what the DC is asking them to do.

It makes opposing fans feel better to think that they played with 49 players and maybe they just pulled some fans on to the side lines as well and UGA only won by 7pts.
I said it on a separate thread, they may have had 49 players, but their O and D had the starters playing from previous games.
This was essentially a good on good game.

I think this is a response thread to a gator fan who posted 10 times that Miss St was full of walkons Saturday.
I asked the gator to name them and he ghosted (maybe he was trolling. Who knew?).
Diddly is just responding with relevant info to the gator troll.
If providing relevant information to correct a lie (or in this case, a troll) is a melt than so be it
Too many people trope out misinformation and repeat it because it doesnt get contested. I dont mind diddly's OP.
I have a distaste for mendacity.

I’m 100% sure it is. I can send you clips of the play and the settle n noise drill Air Raid teams run to practice it against Zone.

Vs Man, Yes.
quote from Jaden Walley tonight on his TD catch:
“At first I just recognized man coverage. I waited on Austin (Williams) and I cut off him and the ball was there. So I just caught it and just used what God gave me to get into the end zone.”

That means 1s vs. 1s.
Too bad UGA didn't get that kind of game when we played Auburn.
27-6 ouch

Mesh is traditionally 2 drag routes. A pick play.
Setting a RB 5 yards in front of the QB as a check down 15 times for 76 yards is not a mesh route.
Jumping your 6 foot 5 receiver on a button hook route 5 yards in front of the QB on 2nd and 2 multiple times is not mesh concept.
Leach runs mesh concepts. Every team runs mesh concepts. Either we are talking about 2 different plays, or you didnt watch the game and how Miss St averaged 6 yards per attempt with a freshman QB and freshman RBs

Not the plays to RBs obviously (RBs don’t run mesh, usually an out or a wheel if tagged) The plays where you saw 2 WRs stopping n standing in the holes between the backers are the plays I’m talking about and they ran it A LOT
Then they burned em when they went man for a td

You're an idiot.
We are talking about 2 different things.
UGA fans are frustrated by the zone that we called all game. It was our primary defensive formation and it is why the miss St QB kept ahead in the chains all day.
Miss st didnt run mesh a lot because we werent in man coverage a lot. When we were in man, they did beat us at least twice in a mesh play. One of those was the first Td.
No one at UGA is worried about our ability to cover man. No one at UGA is worried about our ability to stop a mesh play. As a matter of fact, miss st ran it against zone coverage one time and our ILB pancaked the #1 receiver.
We are more frustrated by the 20 completions by miss state for 5+ yards underneath our zone.

You are clearly just here to argue.
I said they ran mesh, you said it wasn’t. You just said it was and you call me names
Exactly what I should expect from a Dumb mutt
I don’t gaf what UGA ran. When you were in zone, that play got hit for yards to keep the chains moving, when you were in man they took it to the house.
