Georgia and Alabama....

Georgia-
Hard to really poke holes in what happened Saturday. I do think it was a little too easy as Oregon did nothing to make us change what we were doing. You can't run a gazillion screens on every team in the SEC, even the ones on our schedule, and have the game over by the third quarter.
Defense will not be as good as last year, but should be Kirby's first D to follow up a top ten season with another top ten defensive finish.
Bennett has worked hard in the off season. He is better than last year. From what I'm hearing, many of his bad habits in technique are gone now.
Beck looked the best he's ever looked. I had pretty much given up on him, but maybe I was wrong.
Those three star WR recuits are a lot better than their ranking.
That three star RB we're starting may not be as good as Zeus between the tackles and may not be as good as Cook running routes, but his combination of the two may be better than both.
Bama- They played a pretty group of five team and did what they should on the scoreboard.
Defense looked dominant.
Offense....well, honestly it looked about the way it did most of last year (except for the nightmare in Atlanta). Just not as efficient as those Tua and Mac years.
Oline still looked shaky at times. Think Young threw the ball 28 times for like 190 yards against a non power 5.
That doesn't look anything like 2018-2020.
I don't think it has anything to do with Young.
Is it the former HC of the Texans?
Is it a downgrade at WR continually?
Don't know. But it just doesn't look like what I saw from 2018-2020 (lone exception being last year in ATL )
These two teams look head and shoulders above the rest though, not just the conference, but the country.
We'll see if their weaknesses are enough for someone else to knock them off. Doesn't look like it though.

Georgia should be number 1, I agree

At this point, probably. But if you are gonna be fluid week to week in your voting, you have to do it all season. Bama kills Texas next week and makes them look like Mercer, maybe that changes.

I have no idea how good Oregon is but I do know elite play when I see it. Georgia looked like a well-coached machine out there on Saturday afternoon and made it look easy. I know Utah State was solid last year but this isn't last year. Be that as it may, you can tell Alabama is still really good and very well-coached. You can also tell the defense has improved because of how disciplined they played on Saturday night. I think it can safely be said that both teams are going to have a say in who the national champion is in 2022.

I'll put OSU no 1 for now, then UGA and Bama in that order. You should get rewarded for the opponent during that week.

Don't think that changes anything. Texas not really a powerhouse.

As an overall team, no. We all know how good Bo is though, and that is not very. I really don't understand why Oregon thought he was the answer at QB unless they missed on plans A-E.

I thought he played his best game against us last year, and wasn't bad. He was running for his life practically the whole time, made some good throws that his WRs dropped.
Last Saturday may have been his worst vs. Georgia. He's incredibly hard to sack and can make incredibly good plays that leave you stunned. I think coaches see the ceiling and not the floor with players like him.

They would get my vote. Both teams looked pretty dang good but UGA stood out.

I agree, but making them look like UTEP would be impressive. And there is a greater than 0 chance they are better than Oregon.

You know it is coming. UGA and Bama seem to be just on a higher level than everyone else. However, other teams will improve before we encounter them. But UTx will not.

UGA
Both run defense and run blocking look a little weak right now. Stetson looked great, perimeter blocking by wr/te is outstanding. Kenny McIntosh is gonna have 1500 or more ALl purpose yards this year.
Bama
No idea, opponent was way overmatched. I do know Bryce is a magician and their defense is very good

One of the weirdest takes I've heard was from Chip Patterson and Tom Fornelli, two guys at CBS. They both praised OSU because their defense won the game and said they feel even stronger about them now. Both thought they would blow ND out of the water before Saturday. They didn't. Their offense looked pedestrian. And yet somehow they have more confidence in them now.
That's not logic. Don't know what it is, but it doesn't seem close to objective reasoning.

Young threw 5 touchdown passes and zero interceptions in a half and one drive in the 3rd quarter.
That looks very much like recent success to me.

I saw that on On3, too.
I understand it. It is the same as UGA.
If the offense was the "low point" for the team and we score 7 TDs on 7 possessions, then you know the team is more dangerous. We have Kirby, Muschamp, and Schu. We know the defense will be better week 10 vs week 1.
For tOSU, if the defense is playing great week 1 and eliminating explosives, you know the offense will be improved week 10.

I agree.
But he is a 4 year starter.
He could walk into most P5 camps and come out the starter.

His running, though. He really added a new dimension and that alone makes the Alabama offense extremely dangerous.
