I hate rankings until the very last of the regular season. Just win and worry about that shite later!

It's probably got to do with the younger linebackers but they were allowing Oregon the get to the outside edges pretty regularly. It wasn't enough to let them score and once they got closer to the red zone, yall shut it down. Like I said though, there probably won't be many teams that can exploit it. Also as the season goes and the newer players get more time, it'll get better. Right now it looks like Alabama and Georgia are the two teams to beat. I'm not impressed at all with Ohio State

That’s good because I don’t think Ryan Day is either, at this point.

Yeah. Not to nitpick but McIntosh, Milton, Edwards, and Robinson were all 4*.

Georgia looked awesome, I’d have them #1 after this week, but that’s clearly not a very good Oregon team.

They (Oregon) were kind of like some of those opening games Alabama had in recent years with FSU and Louisville where those teams came in ranked high, got physically/mentally broken, and finished the year around .500

I think UGA should be number one. Bama's offensive line is still "unsettled". We'll know a little more this week. Bryce was out after one drive in the 3rd qtr so his yards dont bother me. Gibbs is a MUCH MUCH better back than Brian Robinson but still not where we need to be right now. Defensively, I can't find a problem but again, it was Utah St. but our pass rush is much better this season. It didn't exist last year. If we cant run the ball we wont be national champs. That is the bottom line.

Just as a pure football fan, I was cringing when he did that.

OSU no 1 for now, then UGA and Bama in that order. You should get rewarded for the opponent during that week.

Oregon may have been better than ND.

Their offense looked pedestrian, which wasn't necessarily a resurgence of tOSU defense.

#1 UGA
#2 Bama
#3 tOSU

Flip 3 and 2 if it makes one feel good based on a week one outcome.

I'll worry about it in DEC. Lots of football to play

I don't disagree, but he is a small frame and has a BB background and more burst than he gets credit for.

Just looking for an opportunity for a seam and to get a defender off-balance to lessen a blow.

It shouldn't be surprising we played vanilla against Utah State. This is not uncommon for a Saban coached team with a big game the following week. He works on fundamentals in games against creampuffs, especially early in the season, and then opens up against the tougher opponents.

The wide receivers played fine. There was timing issues between QB and receivers at times but that'll get worked out.

The oline didn't play perfect, but it's to be expected they need a little time to gel with a few new starters and a new oline coach. It should help them a great deal getting things on film.

This was my basic take.

Bama has a weaker schedule than UGA. OSU beat a top 5 ranked opponent, you should get credit for scheduling a tough team.

The points will get tallied correctly after the season, but OSU should be no 1 after week 1

Everything you're saying here could be. Just pointing out that you haven't been as efficient in ratio of plays run to points last year to now as you were in those three dynamic years with Locksley and Sark. Ironically, the only real exception was playing our generational defense in the SECCG.

The difference is explosive plays. We don't really go for them with O'Brien.

But the team is at the same time not as reliant on them either. When Alabama lost 44-16 against Clemson, it was because they shut down the explosive plays by keeping everything in front of them. Alabama moved the ball in the midfield, but lacked the ability to keep a drive alive. Against LSU in 2019 it was a similiar story. It wasn't until they gave up on explosive plays and started giving Najee more carries that things opened up, and even then in that game the majority of points came from explosive plays.

More plays, but more sustained drives. Alabama scored 41 points in the first half and never punted in the game until the end of the 3rd quarter, long after Bryce left the game with 6 TDs.

Wouldn't mind a touch more explosive plays here and there, but overall I like the ability to drive more.

Is this something you really beleive?

It's too early to get any real sort of read on SoS, but most early projections had Bama 30 - 40 spots ahead of UGA.

Not trying to be an arse, but it's a bit of a stretch off of cupcake Saturday for the most part opening the season.

We'll see how it plays out.

Plus, that is not how futures scheduling works. Honestly, there shouldn't be polls until at least week 5. It's a new team every year.
