I would rather Georgia be #2 for the remainder of the season. Keep'em hongry

I just don't understand the media's love affair with Ohio State this year, what am I not getting? They got their shite kicked in by Michigan last year, so from what they lost to their incoming freshman has all of a sudden vaulted them into Georgia/Alabama status? No, it hasn't.
SEC fatigue and envy has vaulted them into #2.

That doesn't look anything like 2018-2020.
I don't think it has anything to do with Young.
Is it the former HC of the Texans?
Is it a downgrade at WR continually?
We had a WR room full of Top 15 picks (literally) from 2018-2020 and one of the most explosive offenses in college football history for 3 straight years. That isn't going to be a norm anywhere.
We aren't going to be that explosive this year. We still could have scored 80 pts against a team that won the MWC and finished ranked last year if we'd chosen to.
The defense is the dominant unit of this team. The offense is good but will be the one that needs to gel and improve as the season goes on. We played tons of RBs and WRs and the OL played with a bunch of combos. I'm guessing the goal is to have a better pecking order by the end of September when we go to Arkansas (Texas, ULM, Vanderbilt between now and then).

His running,
I think is a bad sign. Sure, he is good at it, but it means breaks down in protection, and he improvises. I prefer running backs to run and qb's to throw.

A lot of those scrambles weren't really because of pressure, they were the fact that Utah State kept playing zero coverage and he'd step up in the pocket and see 40 yards of wide open green in front of him.
I could have done without the hops and jukes at the end of a couple of them. Get your arse on the ground Bryce.

It shouldn't be surprising we played vanilla against Utah State. This is not uncommon for a Saban coached team with a big game the following week. He works on fundamentals in games against creampuffs, especially early in the season, and then opens up against the tougher opponents.
The wide receivers played fine. There was timing issues between QB and receivers at times but that'll get worked out.
The oline didn't play perfect, but it's to be expected they need a little time to gel with a few new starters and a new oline coach. It should help them a great deal getting things on film.

Why? Did you watch them play? That was a typical Notre Dame team they really struggled with. After week 1, UGA #1 and BAMA #2.

Personally? I do, too. It has been nice when Bennett pulled the ball down and ran, though. He saved us several times. That said, people don't realize how it can also cause some problems for your own team. But, Young being able to run really puts a lot of pressure on the defense.

My post is a classic example of waffling.

I'll put OSU no 1 for now, then UGA and Bama in that order. You should get rewarded for the opponent during that week.
If you can't beat Notre Dame by at least 14 you're not #1.

Everything you're saying here could be. Just pointing out that you haven't been as efficient in ratio of plays run to points last year to now as you were in those three dynamic years with Locksley and Sark. Ironically, the only real exception was playing our generational defense in the SECCG.

For a big QB, it is fine, for someone the size of Young...? He will be hurt sooner than later.

I don’t see OSU as close to UA and UGA as half a dozen others, based on one game. Do not believe ND is top 10 and did not see what I expected from a highly touted OSU offense. UGA looked very good, as did Bama. Nothing about either team is of concern. If ND played either Utah State or The Ducks it would be a toss up.

(except for the nightmare in Atlanta).

I believe Alabama is the best team.
Georgia looked like the best team.
Alabama goes out a drops a 4 TD whooping on the Horns In Austin as I expect them to, I see no reason they aren’t ranked #1. They’ve earned the benefit of the doubt.

Georgia looked damn good, we will have to see how good Oregon will be this year though. I did see a few chinks in the armor of the defense that wasn't there last year. Saying that, there would only be a few teams that will be able to exploit it and I don't think any of those teams are on Georgia's schedule. Georgia's offense is very efficient and gets the ball out of the quarterbacks hands fast and to their playmakers in open space. The run game doesn't seem to be as good this year but that isn't a surprise for the first game of the season. Plenty of time for the o-line to gel and improve that area. Defense seems to be a little more bend but don't break this year rather than a complete shutdown defense of last year.
I'm really happy with Alabama’s performance. Was really nice to see us rotating players in as much as we were, especially early in the game. This team has some quality depth. Bryce scrambles were great but I'd much rather see him dumping the ball of to the running backs than taking any more unnecessary hits. The WRs and Bryce need to get their timing down a little better but it will come with more game time. Run blocking wasn't the greatest but Utah State was really feast or famine with their aggressive play calling. Lots of stunts and zero blitzes. All in all, it was a good tune up game. We played a very vanilla game plan and the players did a good job executing it. We will see more on just how good this team is this weekend.

I don't think they will be very good. But not very good may be good enough to make the conference championship.

Oregon was lining up with their ILB inside to take away the interior zone plays. With our jet sweeps and screen passes being so effective, the smart play was to keep doing those until Oregon adjusted.
