A&M is down a Fri/Sat starter, but I’ll take our match up regardless. 7+ ERA for Mizzou.

Is Childress going for you tonight? He is normally your Sunday guy, right?

Apparently we're 65-63-0 vs them all-time but 1-9 in our last 6. Yikes. It's like the opposite of the basketball series.

Notes from around the SEC.

quote:

Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Scott Stricklin
On dealing with having COVID-19
"The last couple weeks have been pretty tough. I haven't been able to get rid of the fever. I was preparing last weekend to go to Texas A&M to fly out and meet the team on Saturday. But, my temperature spiked on Thursday night and stayed all day Friday and I didn't kick it again until Monday…I really didn't feel good. It's been 12-13 straight days of not feeling very well at all. The last two days have been better. I'll be at practice today for the first time…to be at the field and walk around has been kind of therapeutic for me. I was isolated in the basement. It's been challenging not to see your wife, your kids. Then to have to watch your team on tv, that's hard not to have any control at all. "

Will you be in the dugout this weekend?
"That's the plan. Yesterday, I watched practice from the Press Club at the stadium. I was outside and walked around and paced myself. I haven't thrown a baseball in 14 days. Today I'll get out there and move around a bit and be ready to go this weekend."

I love how Georgia sells the coaches' titles to boosters.
Make that money Jack!

quote:

FROM COACH O'SULLIVAN

On changing the pitching…
"Well, I drove home from South Carolina and sat on it. I slept on it Sunday night and made the decision. They went out and pitched great tonight. It's really that simple."

On not pulling from the bullpen…
"That was the plan. Franco (Aleman) gave us four and Tommy (Mace) goes five. It worked out really well."

Deep thoughts from Sully.

From Kentucky
quote:

The trip to Starkville always is interesting but even more so with coach Nick Mingione at the helm of the Wildcats. The head man spent eight years as an assistant with the Bulldogs, met his wife, Christen, there and saw his son, Reeves, born in the town. This will be is second trip back, as the 2017 team went 1-2 in the old incarnation of Dudy Noble Field.

For Serraneaux
quote:

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The sixth-ranked Tennessee Vols will look to continue their hot start to conference play with a trip to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama this weekend.

The Big Orange have won six straight and 11 of their last 12 games heading into this weekend's clash with the Crimson Tide. UT's 5-1 start in SEC play is its best since going 8-1 to begin league play in 2001.

From Auburn
quote:

The Tigers allowed just five baserunners and faced just three batters over the minimum in the win over Arkansas last night.

Headline from College Station:

Aggies Deliver Misery to Missouri

From LSU head coach Paul Mainieri
quote:

"It certainly was a disappointing night; Vanderbilt has a great ball club and they took advantage of every opportunity that we gave them," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "We take a lot of pride in wearing the LSU uniform and in representing the great legacy of this program in the best way possible, so we're going to come out tomorrow and give it everything we have to compete at a high level."

Dude has had actual Covid symptoms enough to kiss the last 8 games and that’s your takeaway?

Tells you what you need to know about UGA and how it pays for non-football. Everything can be endowed

I was just making a joke about the coaches title TD, not your coach. I thought it would be good news that he is back in the dugout. So not sure what you mean here.

Correct. We started with Miller Friday, Saenz Saturday, and Childress Sunday. But Rob flipped Fri/Sat early on for match ups and just left it. Miller has been out 2 weekends now with Covid. We have some promising young pitchers, but I’d like Miller back ASAP.

I’m laughing with you, not at you. It was just funny that of the whole thing you quoted the emphasis was on the admittedly dumb head coaches title at the beginning.

I would also like to add that we are all LSU fans tonight!

Other than the whistler fans, of course.

Texas faced a RS-Senior last night @KU that was a transfer from Mississippi State: Ryan Cyr. Pretty good stuff, definitely pitches to contact. And I can see why: his K/BB ratio for the season is 12/1.

I looked him up and he had some pretty sensational stats the one season he played at MSU. I think it was 16 or 17 innings pitched with not a single run allowed.

Why the transfer? Was it a relationship issue with the staff? Or was he just homesick?

I feel like that’s going to be the case unfortunately. It’s time for the Vols to drop 2 games.
