You can try to take down LSU and all that crap, have at it

Now to take away the yearly tradition of LSU/Bama irks me. Some of the best matchups. 63 years strong !!

my favorite game every season.

They took it away so every team would have two permanent opponents they care about to some degree

Miss State gets Alabama and Ole Miss

Alabama gets Auburn and Tennessee

Ole Miss gets LSU and MSU

LSU's permanent opponents are Ole Miss, Arkansas, and A&M? That sucks cuz who cares about Arkansas?

Given LSU's history vs. Alabama, looks like Texas A&M is more your speed. You should be thanking Sankey.

Two of our three permanent opponents weren’t even in the conference before 1991. Some history there for a charter member of the SEC, eh?

Hey at least we got Texas in the conference now, right? :eyeroll:

Alabama LSU has earned its place as a yearly. It’s baffling to me that they would take away this game considering the ratings it has brought over the last 20 years.

Sankey is single handedly ruining the league. The 9 game schedule is the most moronic thing the SEC has ever done. We now have a clear disadvantage against the other leagues.

We were slated to have Bama as a permanent "rival" but Saban cried so much that they changed it.

The overwhelming majority of our fanbase would rather it be Florida, Auburn and Alabama. I don't care how hard the schedule is. Those are the games that we've grown accustomed to caring about during this decade. No one gives a shite if we play Oklahoma or Vanderbilt or Missouri. Nothing against any of them, we just have no real history with them.

This isn't something new. didn't they come out with this schedule when they added Texas and OU?

WHO do you think Alabama would choose?

Tennessee - TSIO
Auburn - IB & in-state rival
MSU - 1 of Alabama's oldest foes

What competitor runs from competition and appreciates a weaker path?

I wanted OM or AU, Bama and UF. I’m positive the bulk of the LSU fanbase would be happy with that as well.
You’re an Austin California fan, I’m sure what I’m saying makes no sense to you.

Most of the preliminary lists all had bama and lsu playing forever. It was never actually slated but that’s likely what he’s talking about.

And most of the interest and popularity of the game came when Saban went to Alabama then add to that LSU staying a top tier team. It produced must see TV for 17 years. However, and I don't know this, just thinking out loud, with the Saban component now gone, it stands to reason that the schedule makers foresaw a drop in interest in the draw of the game compared to the last 17 years. I've been a Bama fan FOR A LONG time and until the Saban component, the LSU game was never that big or that hyped. It just wasn't. Our two most anticipated games were Auburn and Tennessee. So, it's not unthinkable as to why they would now possibly go back to viewing the game how it was viewed pre-Saban.

I agree that previously it was not a big draw and Saban definitely changed that. However, 17 years is plenty of time to cultivate an organic rivalry and that has undoubtedly happened. I know bama fans will say it’s not, but it is and that’s not debatable.
