Jaguars did all they could to trade RB Leonard Fournette in the spring and then again this summer. But as Jaguars’ HC Doug Marrone said today: "We couldn't get anything, a fifth, a sixth, anything. We couldn't get anything."

But I don't think he was "cut" as much as released to save money.

I don't think he's dead.....his heart's just stopped beating.

I find this hard to believe.

TIAA Bank Field could surely use at least half a set of new pylons or a field goal/XP net.

No. It was not a money thing. He was still playing on a rookie deal and was "only" owed $4M this year. Jags have been unhappy with him for awhile and there was zero trade market for him. They have been trying to trade him for months now.

One of my favorite Rant threads

The Fournette Effect - Can Bama Fans Deal?

"LSU has crossed the line that Bama had drawn in the sand
Leonard Fournette has this year and this Heisman
Leonard Fournette has next year and the Heisam"

Two weeks later:

Derrick Henry 38 carries for 210 yards 3 TDs

Fournette 19 carries for 31 yards 1 TD

Not only have they been looking to trade him they have been looking for any reason to cut him.

So the Jags have been trying to save money for 6 months and just couldn't find a team that would take him?

Easy too see that he was going to bust in the NFL when he could not run against the Gumps.

He had his way with Auburn's girly men, though.

I still think he can do well at the right team, but he has been very mediocre in the NFL. Henry and Gurley have clearly done much better.

You can't expect anything else from this board.

But I don't think he was "cut" as much as released to save money. And no, not one suck arse on this board would attempt to tackle this dude!

child please he was cut, for christ sake he was still in his rookie contract, they tried to trade him and had no takers. he's out of the league after 3 seasons.

but hey i'm sure he has most of that 18 million dollar signing bonus in the bank and of course he has his degree to fall back on!

Fournette broke something off in Auburn

I was thinking about this when I heard the news. It seems the entire reason LSU fans had such high hopes for him at the next level was his success against one team: Auburn. He obviously was abysmal against Bama, but never really looked that spectacular such that he deserved the hype.
