Giving up on Thompson? I thought he had potential.

Career 48% passer... struggling this spring with a RS freshman and true freshman giving him a run. I say move him to the slot and highlight his skills are a great athlete.

Based on some of the plays we ran against Iowa, I expect to see KT being used the way that Stevens was used at PSU when McSorley was the main guy.

And I think KT is happy about it.

Bringing in a one year mercenary instead of continuing as a program to develop the guys who have been there... my paranoid State football mind is seeing this as just another marker of our decline from the Mullen era.

He put in his time behind Trace McSorley, and he was heir-apparent to the starting job this year. Rather than name him first team and then see if he could hold the position, Franklin opted to say the QB slot was wide open. That didn't sit well with Stevens and his Dad.

He had already graduated from PSU and was eligible to transfer before last year, but he was talked into staying with guarantees that seemed to have disappeared.

Can State fans explain why you take this guy instead of going with Thompson? I thought Thompson was a good fit for the offense, or am I missing something here?

Would expect Thompson to hit the transfer portal now.

You’re definitely missing something. KT is a run first QB with a strong but inaccurate arm. He was one of those under the radar Mullen recruits. He was a great fit for Mullen’s offense. But he would be even worse than Fitz under Moorhead.

But I still don’t like this.

He’s never started a game and will be playing for the worst coach in the SEC.

Thompson got recruit by Mullen and not really a Moorhead fit. Thompson hasn't progressedas Moorhead would have liked. The writing was on the wall. During the bowl game, Thompson took one snap at quarterback while taking one at running back and a few at reciever.

State + a good QB makes me jittery.
Congrats on the transfer—hope he works out for y’all.

1- They mishandled his injury (most under reported issue)

2- Then would not name him starter

Same reason LSU went with Burrow

Thompson isn't a toothpick, Brennan was also only entering his 2nd year vs. 3rd year for Thompson. Thompson and Stevens seem like the same exact QB
