For those fan bases w/ no NC in football, how do you square IU’s success?

Must be a kick in the nuts seeing literally the worst college football program of all time win something that your program has never done.
Serious questions must be asked as to what’s wrong with your program when IU can do what they did last year.
Looking specifically at the teams in the SEC that have a high opinion of their football programs: Arkansas, MSU, Ole Miss- that still haven’t accomplished with IU was able to.
Fascinating.

I mean unless one of those said schools has a mark Cuban not sure it affects them. Texas tech fans are probably all thinking they’re next now tho.

Easily could have been 1964,1964,1969 and 1977.
Pretty close in 88 had Steve Atwater held on for the interception against Miami. If the fumble didn't happen against Tennessee in 98. Maybe in 2006 had Arkansas not lost the LSU and Florida games.
If the playoffs existed and expanded back in 2010 and 2011. Arkansas could potentially make a run and find themselves in the title game.

Indiana has a lot more alumni and money than those schools.
It shouldn't be a surprise that Indiana started winning big in the NIL era.
The two Arkansas billionaires are spending more money into basketball and baseball. All the Tysons have is a patch on the football uniforms.
Ryan Silverfied is being tasked with getting all the Arkansas donors and boosters from all walks of life on board. He said as of now has spent 75% fundraising. He said he will try to get the Waltons involved.
It shouldn't be a surprise that Indiana started winning big in the NIL era.

What's really crazy is IU football winning a title before Purdue basketball. That's really gotta sting.

If Indiana had a top 10 payroll last season, they barely made the list.
Some people still refuse to give them credit. They were one of the most well-coached and most disciplined teams in years, and their QB was the number 1 pick in the draft.

They aren't top 10 but they do have deep pockets, they just didn't put the money into football until recently.

Ole Miss had an aggressive strategy before NIL was approved and built a war chest that helped them get into the playoffs. I don't know how they are able to sustain it.
Arkansas has more money. The problem is getting all donors to an agreement and that is hard to do in Arkansas. Right now they are mad at each other or someone else. This is not just the few billionaires but multimillionaires that are angry because this such and such happened and and so you won't be getting our money. A good example is Drake Lindsey who is the QB for Minnesota. Pittman and his staff didn't offer or recruit Drake Lindsey to Arkansas and this infuriated the Lindsey family to the point that they may not donate to Arkansas.

They still had to beat Oregon (twice), Ohio State, Bama, and Miami.

They were the most disciplined team in the nation last year.
They didn't commit stupid penalties or turn the ball over and they were really good on special teams.
Some of these or if not most programs don't bother with the little stuff.
They had a very good defense that wasn't stacked with NFL talent but just really good college players that played the fundamentals better than everyone else.
The offense is just like the defense.
Then you have a good but not great QB that just through willpower won games when the team needed him the most.
This made it extremely hard to beat them.
They didn't commit stupid penalties or turn the ball over and they were really good on special teams.

IU didn't win the title because of NIL. Their roster was shite compared to everyone else in the playoffs. Yes, their QB was good but he wasn't highly recruited at all. Cignetti just knows how to find diamonds in the rough in the portal and develop them.

Alabama is the same as Ohio State but a much more disciplined Indiana blew them out.
Oregon is below those two and still better than Indiana and they got destroyed.
