I think my team, Bama won 5 in a row when joe willy and forest were on the team. Both were the top basketweavers in their class. Much further ahead than the kids taking them dum stem classes.
Texas says they stopped ole Joe at the goal line but if you'e ever seen the replays it's very obvious! Joe was in deep. Also crossed the goal line.

This mean LSU only has 2 undisputed titles now. Uh oh.

We can claim 5.
But we don't recogize them officially like Alabama, Michigan, ND, etc do..not sure why...if the top programs in CFB History do it, then we need to as well..

It could be claimed
1980
10-2-0
Annual Football Predictions
Montgomery Full Season Championship
However Alabama only claims the NC won on the field (Rose Bowl) even in the early ones (save 41 that I disagree with, instead 66 is a better choice as Alabama was the only unbeaten and untied team)
After WWII, the polls became aligned and Alabama only claims the AP/UPI/BCS/CFP

Help me out on 2003? OU got smoked in the Big 12 title game and then lost to LSU in the BCS title.
I think that's the point. What Auburn wants to do is ridiculous.

If the Foley Alabama Coon Hunters Association awarded Bama national champs the Turds would hang the banner and put it in their record books.

5 unclaimed, in addition to the claimed 4. So 9 total, according to Grok
The University of Texas football program has five unclaimed national titles according to various sources, including the Official NCAA Football Record Book and other analyses. These unclaimed titles are from the following seasons, where Texas was recognized by at least one NCAA-designated major selector but does not officially claim the championship:
1914: Texas went 8-0 and was awarded a share of the national title by the Billingsley Report. However, Illinois was awarded the title by college football historian Parke H. Davis, and other teams like Army and Notre Dame also received recognition.
1941: Texas finished 8-1-1 and was recognized by the Berryman and Wilson polling systems, as well as the National Championship Foundation. The season included a notable win over Alabama in the Cotton Bowl, but Minnesota (8-0) was the consensus champion.
1968: Texas finished 9-1-1, implementing the innovative Wishbone offense, and was selected as national champions by the DeVold System, Matthews Grid Ratings, and Sagarin. Ohio State (10-0) was the consensus champion, with Penn State also claiming a title.
1977: Texas went 11-1 under coach Fred Akers, defeating Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl. Three selectors (not specified in detail) recognized Texas, but Notre Dame was the consensus champion after defeating Texas in the bowl game.
1981: Texas finished 10-1-1 and was recognized by some selectors, but the title was split among multiple teams, with Clemson and SMU also receiving votes.
These five unclaimed titles are in addition to the four national championships Texas officially claims (1963, 1969, 1970, and 2005).

No wonder Auburn's 9 national championships pissed you guys off so bad.

Part of the problem was that many times, especially of those disputed, the championship was awarded before bowl games were played

Auburn and UF could both claim 5 based on the records book but apparently Auburn just made up 4 of their own now.
Auburn finally took a page from "big brother" and found every gas store gazette that awarded national titles to them and made it official.
It's in the media guide now, so it's a fact.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

At least you’re honest, credit to your school.
Auburn went with the “everybody gets an award” plan. We all knew that era of grade school would hurt us someday. Little Johnny got a 4th place ribbon for doing shitty on his class project. Taught kids to stop working harder to do better and mediocracy creeped into our society.
Auburn is laughing stock of the college sports world and did it right before college football kicks off. It actually devalues any they won straight up.
I lost respect for them, they need to be kicked out of SEC to PAC 2.

Exactly....Good job. But y'all have a few dozen more fake ones to catch up to Crimson Turds.

Every Bama claim (even 1941) is in the records book though.

Question.
Pre 1936 did the schools, local papers, etc. declare teams national championships as they happened?
Or were these all retroactively declared years later by some obscure national poll or magazine?
Yes, declaring a championship post 1936 when you didn’t win one of the AP, Coaches, BCS, and playoff is terrible.

The 1980 was a win over undefeated FSU in the Orange Bowl the final bowl of the season , some service voted OU#1 after that IDK which one
I don’t know for sure but I think some service endorsed each of the NC he added to the 7 AP NCs that OU counts
