I remember when Michael Jordan was dominating the NBA and winning the title every year of his prime. Remember how he destroyed basketball and basketball fans hated him?

That’s like saying Ali should have retired when he owned boxing. Good grief either beat them or go away. Bama won’t be on top forever, in the meantime deal with it. Even Mike Tyson eventually fell. Right now Bama is king and they have the best coach ever. Let’s have a crybaby party and I’ll bring the beer and we can whine together. Invite friends.

The huge difference...everyone wants to be like Mike. No one likes Satan.

Yeah, shame on Michael Jordan for being so dominant. He ruined the NBA lol. It’s unreal that anyone would suggest Bama has destroyed college football. Whiners, just pure whiners but if it were THEIR team they’d be giving us hell.

Are you under the impression that it was once beloved by New York City?

College football has always been provincial, a sport where even little ole Nebraska or Alabama or Kansas State or Boise Idaho could be great. And the big cities have always cared way more about their pro teams. That is the way it has always been. That is college football.

I think the four team playoffs have played a role in this as well. The PAC12 has basically disappeared from consideration and their level of football has fallen. When one or two teams become so dominant, it is hard for others to keep up and gradually, expectations from their fans drop as well as level of interest. College football needs a strong PAC12 team to win this thing, or Notre Dame, or Texas, or Michigan. Anybody but the same old same old.

Who gives a shite. Coach Bryant did it for two decades and football survived. He will retire in me day and most of y’all will still suck just like you always did.

college football does have a problem though. There really isn’t much you can do at this point.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the future. I’m guessing they will go to an eight team playoff when this contract ends just to creat mora juice across the nation because I bet the next tv contracts won’t be that great

No offense to the great people in Birmingham but you can’t have Birmingham Alabama carry your sport

But on the flip side stadiums are selling out on saturdays and that really what the schools care about in Oregon and Wisconsin anyways

When the bear was around, college football was a different animal than what it is today. There were fewer bowl games, and I think, more important, fewer televised games. With fewer televised games, the networks aimed for the big markets, most of which were on the east coast, mid-west, and west coast. This had them pushing for teams that were attractive to those areas and thus more teams from more areas received the limelight. That the bowls meant more at the end of the year back then was also true. Now, if you are not in the CFP, no one gives a shite about you or the bowl game you are in. This has reduced that limelight to the four selected teams and unfortunately for the sport itself, two of those teams keep repeating. One of them keeps winning. Who wants re-runs every damn season? It's starting to feel like the movie "Ground Hog Day". It's not funny either.

This is what will kill college football. First it'll be 8, then they'll call for 16, then college football is practically an NFL season. There's too many teams in college football to have a proper playoff. More playoff spots will kill regular season importance and, eventually, will kill conference championship games.

Lower the number of scholarships that can be offered and the talent will then disperse itself among MORE schools. This would greatly help.
Another thing I'd like to see is that the two top teams swap places for a year and play the other teams schedule. Wouldn't this be fun to watch! Imagine Ohio State playing Alabama's schedule and Alabama competing in the Big Ten! THIS would rekindle interest from other sections of the country as there would be a whole new dynamic at play EVERY season.

^ THIS!!!!

I swear when I first heard of a 4 team playoff I said you watch and see, #5 and #6 will bitch they were left out. Then if we went to 6 teams #7 and #8 will say “But but but we are close enough to the top 6, why can’t we get in?

Then it will be 8 teams, then 12, then Fking everyone is in and we have 2 more months of college football which is unhealthy and would never work. Plus that many more games will see half the players sit out for fear of injury.

What is it with people? I have never seen so many crybabies in my damn life. You begged for a 4 team playoff and got it. So now you are crying still. Grow a set of balls and enjoy what we do have. You keep adding more teams and you WILL destroy college football.

What a weird analogy.

The NBA has survived multiple dynasties, so has the NFL, and MLB.
