no, a 2-loss Bama doesn't deserve to be in the Playoffs if they lost to AU

So it's a resume thing - because that's the same team that played that same game and looked the same doing so. It's just one miracle play that went THEIR way that led to a victory.

So the resume matters there, but it doesn't matter for FSU.

Additionally, it appears as though the committee members watched the FSU/Louisville game together and put a ton of weight into that game, as evidenced by their quotes on Finebaum. In particular, they called out FSU's offense.

What if the committee watched the Bama/USF game and called out Bama's offense as a reason they didn't get in? Bama fans (rightly so) would say Milroe didn't even play so that's bullshite.

Well, the QB that played against Louisville wouldn't be playing in the playoff either. The backup is a much better player than the 3rd string.

Bama Fans will die on this hill. Just acknowledge you benefitted from a corrupt selection process that put tv dollars ahead of actual competition. And all the little brother energy with the #lank stuff is cringe af. Y’all are acting like the fanbases you’ve looked down on for decades. It’s embarrassing.

If Fla state would’ve been picked over Alabama only people that would be causing a stink is Gump fans.

That’s bc
A) they are stupid
B) more importantly bc they lost a game and Fla state didn’t, so most people with half brain realize results on the field matter and would have accepted the decision to put them at #4 and Alabama at 5.

5 years from now all these talking heads are going to look at each other and say "Why the hell did we wait so damn long?"

Interesting that not only have they made a NY6 Bowl, they would also have qualified for the 12-team CFP (as an AQ) if it had been implemented this year.

And they would've played Florida State.
I have caught so much crap over the past several days between the More Sports Board and tSECRant about us being in the mix. From the relatively benign to it being insinuated we are a shitty G5 program that should not be given the opportunity to play in an NY6.

I think I know how it feels to be a Bama fan

We would've had a 4 team BCS but the rest of the country got so mad about the Bama/LSU rematch they decided to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

And this year everyone is saying that next year will be better because the team left out is #13 instead of #5... until their team is ranked #13. Welcome to life. Life's not fair.
No question about it the fanbase of #13 will bitch and moan, threaten legal action etc.The difference is nobody else will care..if any of the talking heads say anything about it all they will quickly move on instead of bitching about it for 2-3 days straight.

The fact of the matter is this, in a normal year there are no more than 6-8 teams that can legitimately compete for a championship so 12 more than covers the bases

FSU's exclusion isn't a travesty. In fact, they're pretty far down the list of championship worthy teams who were denied the crown.

Then why was FSU ranked higher in the 'CFP' poll than ala. going into last Saturday's games????
They won their conference title, just like ala. But FSU never lost a game.
Also, how is it that the 'committee' can predict FSU's QB situation............."""""" A MONTH """""" from now ??????????????????????????????????????????????????

I think it was Walter Camp that said that college football wasn’t designed to have a National Champion and shouldn’t aspire to have one. Money and ego’s took over but it’s still mythical.

True but I'd respectfully disagree the playoff took the path of least resistance. The much easier path would have been for them to put a 13-0 FSU team in instead of what they did.

Point being, Booger is right, it is a beauty pageant. It's always been a beauty pageant, this sport is built on being a beauty pageant. FSU's exclusion isn't a travesty. In fact, they're pretty far down the list of championship worthy teams who were denied the crown.

They're at least the second best team being denied the crown THIS season.

College Football, for all its popularity, is, at the end of the season, about as close to a true competition as gymnastics or diving or any other "sport" where judges pick winners and losers. Individual games are won and lost, more or less, on the field, except when the amateur officials who preside over the games make a heinous call and determine the outcome. The season itself, and its "championship" is not as accountable as the judges in olympic ice skating or any other "sport" that is judged. In the history of CFB there has been one champion crowned 22% of the time. The average number of champions per season is a little over 2.5. This is at the highest division throughout history...what we would call the Power 5 / group of 5, division one, CFP division, one of those. A beauty contest at best...hell, even most beauty contests only have one winner.

In many of those years almost no one played the same number of games LOL...and they NEVER played a similar schedule. Even in the vaunted SEC the conference fails to match each school almost as often as it matches them up and always has....it is almost doing beauty contests a disservice comparing their relative cut and dried results to that of a normal college football season. The individual games are more or less cut and dried...anything past the end of the regular season is a farce and almost anything during the season is considering no one plays a similar schedule....
