All this shite about keeping roster together is BS. Florida better off getting a new Coach and even new roster if players don't want to stay.

Even if Lagway, who is going to be good, leaves.

Agree 100%

That’s how we got stuck with Matt Luke’s useless arse after Freeze was fired.

It’s different today. The new coach could bring1/2 his old team with NIL and the transfer portal.

Who are they going to hire? I doubt kiffin or heupel are leaving. Rhule at nebraskas a long shot. Fickell at Wisconsin is fresh off a 30 point beat down. Leipolds stock is falling fast. Who's the guy?

I mean they hired a sunbelt coach and have a sunbelt team yet they have to play an SEC schedule. I’m sure most Florida fans don’t care if most of the team leaves.

What good “name” coach would they get. Florida fans are going to want someone known and likely would revolt if they went the same route as before and highered another Napier type.

Had dj lagway not gone to Florida he most likely isn't going to stephen f austin. They have some dudes. They're a sleeping monster. They have been for a few years. Don't wake them up

Too early in the season.

But the search has started. No coach is gonna jump ship this early..

I think there has been a weird back and forth with this.

It used to be without early signing day that firing a coach had less of an impact on recruiting classes.

ESD screwed that up a lot. If you lost your coach you had almost no time to get a new one and have them consolidate the class before ESD.

But the transfer portal has since changed that again. You can recover from that issue with ESD by going heavy in the portal in year 1.

Now I'd say the only real factor is that it's better to not fire your coach until you're in a position to hire the guy you want to replace them. As soon as your target is available... fire your current guy and hire them. I don't think it makes sense to fire Napier now. But if Kiffin is your target, as soon as he's available, you fire Napier right then.

if you hadnt gotten stuck with Luke you almost certainly wouldnt have Kiff now

just like if not for the DuBose/Fran/Shula years, Saban never would have landed at Bama in 2007

Yeah, I've resigned myself to the fact that Lagway will be gone. He's a nice piece but it's more important to get the right coach.

Of course, I have my doubts we'll get the right coach...

Lagway is nice potential but most of our roster isn't up to playing at a good SEC level. We might have a decent blue chip ratio but most of them haven't panned out.
