Doesn't Miami usually get a pretty decent following when they're good too? I know they aren't exactly rabid but I seem to remember Miami fans showing up if there was something to cheer for.

They will have a few fans out, but I couldn't tell you how well they travel for baseball. Not like FSU, but it is twice as far from Miami.

Our fans will show up and max it out for both of those teams though. Miami is one series every other year and FSU is one mid week game every year.

My hope was a big old honking roof like Oregon's track stadium Hayward Field. I never knew why they needed that in Oregon.

Bout time. Florida’s current baseball stadium is awful. Looks like a softball stadium

Doesn't look like enough shade imo. But what do I know.

I think you're right. Certainly, a lot more shade than the current facility, but not as much as they might have produced with a roof that extends further out. Even then, that amount of roof would help more if the stands were more vertical--the drawings make them look rather flat (low rake). That's something we got right at Olsen Field--extended roof, and a good rake.

Which way will the park be oriented? Based on the location that was given, and the drawings, I'm assuming that home plate to CF runs southeast. If so, that means first base will be the shady side.

I believe the orientation of the stadium is going to be flipped exactly opposite of how it is now so the summer sun will be blazing into the outfield and the grandstands will be in relative shade most of the afternoon.

You sit in that lava fueled stadium from hell for 4 hours for a noon start in late May.

Eh, we deal with freezing weather at times

That is how the current stadium sits, but I don't know about the new one.

They are still working on adding more shade structures. The newest rendering had more down the side.

It’s about time.

Where are they building it? They have so little available space.

Looks pretty similar to the Birmingham minor league stadium, especially down the 3rd base line.

They have a ton of space. They are stealing land from the Ag department next to the softball field. The baseball will no longer be next to the O'Dome as football is taking that over. I always liked how we had everything right next to each other.

Looks very nice. The color scheme is a bit ugly though.

Why can't UF sell beer. LSU just announced a beer and wine garden in the baseball stadium and added it to the football stadium last year.

Stricklin is really good at getting these projects taken care of. Should be a top class facility

UF Baseball's main problem with attendance is the fact that it's too damn hot for day games in the current park. Mid 90s and surrounded by aluminum bleachers does not make for a pleasant afternoon

Yea, it's never hot in South La. in May, especially with our metal bleachers.Guess LSU fans just love baseball more than gator fans, a shame considering how successful their program has been lately. Those Friday nite starters going back yrs would be gods at LSU.
