Injury looked worse than it ended up being.

Get this: Not even a break. Dislocation. That saved the 9-12 month rehab.

Did he have any tendon damage? Breaks and dislocations are easy enough to fix but tendon damage may make things tricky.

Regardless, good to hear. Hope he makes a full recovery.

That’s so odd he was able to have surgery so quickly.

Seems like they are often waiting days if not weeks for swelling ETC.

Regardless of the injury severity really can’t believe they got it done so quick

That's the best news he could hope for post surgery.

Wow I thought it was a break for sure.

Good to hear, Fitz is tough player and fun to watch. I hope the best for the kid.

Common misconception that a fracture would have been worse. With fitzgerald's injury, he is looking at chronic ankle instability with acute exacerbations. Distal non-articulated tib-fib fx or even non-comminuted bimalleolar fractures would have had better long-term prognosis for him.

It's just a tough situation that will force him to really change his approach to QB.

Does this mean his ankle will have little stability? I tore the crap out of all my ligaments and tendons in my left ankle playing QB back in my junior year of high school. Now, mine was not dislocated, but it was bad. I pretty much don't have a left ankle. It has no stability and turns real easily. That being said I wore an ankle brace and wrapped it up tight and my 40 speed actually increased by a tenth of a second by my senior year. Are you saying his ankle will roll over or out of place very easily? If so, I'm sure there is some brace that will help with this like I had and this was almost 30 years ago.
