you’ll never convince me he’d have let his team lose to Vandy and get blown out by Oklahoma thus year.
The fans who proclaimed "Saban would go 8-5 in 2024" are now backtracking and claiming "Saban would have never lost to Vandy and OU" even though he was literally one play away from losing to two significantly worse teams last year (the barn and Arkansas) with this exact same roster plus the added luxury of Kool-Aid, Turner, Arnold, Bond, Key, Latham, Downs, Amos, Niblack, Eboigbe, etc...

Washington playing a B1G schedule would’ve made it about as tough as the SEC now.
Yeah, you’re probably right. But he still wouldn’t be trying to navigate that under the shadow of Nick Saban’s run or the traditions and expectations in general of a place like Alabama.
DeBoer only has one option and not much wiggle room or time to get his way of doing things off and running.
I don’t think most Bama supporters expect Nattys every other year. But alot of them probably expect to at least be in the damn conversation most every year.
I kind of lived through a similar end of an era for a very successful coach and the expectations that were still there once he had moved on. In our case, we made mistakes because things weren’t measuring up to what we’d grown accustomed to. We’ve still never figured it out since.
I don’t foresee Bama ever having to worry about going down that road. Too many positives the program possesses will prevent that. But I can foresee Bama having a bumpy ride for awhile if they aren’t careful.

He took over a loaded roster, certainly one that shouldn’t have lost 4 games.
Did the portal or NIL exist back then? Do you think Miles would have done as well if he had lost some of his key offensive and defensive players?

He's not exactly on the hot seat but he did a shite job.
He lost 3 games as a 14+ point favorite to teams that were way worse in the talent department.
He consistently did not have the team ready to play.

He's not wrong. If he fails again next year, he'll be gone. He received somewhat of a pass this season, but that's over now. Win big or get out.

When your QB's brain doesn't function that well, there's only so much that preparation will do for you.

As well as the Michigan game?
Turnovers by Milroe which either directly resulted in touchdowns or gave the ball to the other team inside your own 20. The ones in the Michigan game were just embarrassing to watch, but frankly I wouldn’t have taken Milroe out either. I would not want the thought in his head he needed to come back next year to improve his draft stock.

He’s right. If he wasn’t, you wouldn’t have so many emotional bammers in these here comments. They all know they are VERY concerned that he may not be the right guy.

Alabama had Jalen Milroe, LSU had Jayden Daniels. Hard to argue that Alabama was in better shape when their top line of the QB depth chart was barely a serviceable quarterback yet LSU had a Heisman trophy winner and soon-to-be NFL Rookie of the Year.
Gee, I kept reading here how Alabama deserved to be in the playoffs this year. You all knew it wasn’t true

But this is dumb. He’s a first year coach taking over for the best coach of all time. You really want to fire him and send your program into oblivion for a few years? Seems so stupid.
Finebaum just chasing clicks and controversy as per usual.
He would be the first to tell you he doesn’t know anything about football, he’s just an entertainer.

All nonsense. No one with any actual inside knowledge said any of this to Finebaum.

Anything to distract from the Freezus failure…
this time last year not a single one of you doubted the brilliance of thd DeBoer hire
sure, he’s probably going to make it through 2026 but i imagine more than a few of you harbor secret doubts as to his long term future

3 of the 4 losses were to the FPI DEF #4, #10, #11 teams.
Alabama struggled on the road and they struggled against quality defenses.
Those are two things indicative of bad offensive talent.

I still don’t get why Finebaum’s opinions carry the weight that they do with people. His status comes from hosting a show that is driven by stupid callers screaming into the phone. I don’t know how people listen to that crap. Everything he says is primarily designed to get people to call into his show so that he can keep his job.
He also looks like a lizard.

Deserves got nothing to do with it. The CFP Committee twisted themselves up in ultimate pretzel logic to arrive at Alabama better than Miami because resume but Alabama not better than SMU because ???. They should have never ranked Alabama above Miami because it suggested a logical through line that if Alabama and SMU's resumes were compared by the same group of people that the same result would be produced.
This is one of the chief reasons I think they've got to end the committee, end AQs (for now...at least until the conference consolidation is done), and bring back the BCS formula picking the top 12. The ridiculous pretzel logic of the CFP to arrive at whatever decision is expedient for political reasons alone (saving the ACC from a quicker death and saving the CCGs for Disney's bottom line in this case) has got to end.

Milroe actually has a higher passer rating this season than Daniels had in his first season at LSU.
Regardless, it seems like DeBoer should've went out and got a transfer like BK did.

Or given Ty a shot. I have to assume there was a bigger reason than on the field performance Milroe was never pulled. There were times he played like the worse QB I’ve ever seen in Crimson.
