Is my search function broken? I don't see it anywhere.

Finebaum Contract

Maybe because it's a Clay Travis story...

Saban had him fired for suggesting a suspension for a player with a stolen gun under his seat.

Paul should've known better.

I watch Finebaum about everyday simply because there's nothing else on TV that I want to watch at that time. I don't see the big deal about Finebaum or his show. In fact it annoys the hell out of me about half the time. I put him in the Skip Bayless category of I don't care if he stays or goes.

I couldn't care less about Finebaum, but this bit is interesting.

This exacerbates recent tension in the SEC-ESPN relationship that has threatened to explode into public view over ESPN’s decision to launch the ACC Network, a move undertaken despite what sources say was a promise made by former ESPN president John Skipper to former SEC commissioner Mike Slive that ESPN would never partner with another conference to create a network.

i don't really see how PF has much bargaining power on this. they sec network could just throw on replays everyday during his timeslot and i bet it would get similar ratings. i doubt a radio show simulcast brings in that many viewers.

a return to birmingham and satellite radio is my prediction for PF.

g.o.o.d.

He is the Jerry Springer of the SEC. He won't be missed.

ETA Give it to Laura Rutledge. She is much more intelligent and a lot of fun to look at.

Reading that, it’s really obvious that Finebaum fed Clay that story.

I think the SEC Network would be a lot better off if Finebaum wasn’t the face of the network.

Not a Finebaum fan, so I don't listen to him. He would be interesting if he didn't do the shock jock stuff just to rile people up.

If he is gone I hope they do not try to fill it with someone else. As bad as PF is to listen to, his subs are much worse.

His show would be a lot better with less callers, no moron callers, and less Alabama deep throating. Not likely to happen though.

I suppose it's possible that they could find something that would draw better ratings than Finebaum, but to think that showing replays would do it is a sign that you are completely out of touch with reality. Finebaum might not be your cup of tea, but the rednecks and car crash fans who watch/listen wouldn't be tuning in for replays of old games--the ones they want to see, they have available from other means.

Ohhhhhhhhh no! Please noooooooooo!

We're in danger of losing Jim from Tuscaloosa, Matt from Georgia, the crazy old lady Milly from Missouri ... and who else?

Perish the thought.

In the meantime here's what needs to happen.

Get a real Sports Talk host with real SEC level sidekicks rather than the yankees and midwesterners Finebaum employs.

Have real football, basketball, baseball discussions and take calls from a lot of different callers every day rather than the same old BS.

Do some interesting side story stuff ... I mean actually work to produce content for your listeners rather relying on the white trash rednecks to dominate the show every day.

Finebaum is a joke as it is right now and it's really a shame because the show has so much potential. And listen, when Paul wants to be he is very engaging, knowledgeable and a helluvan interviewer ... one of the best.

His current schtick has turned stale.

ESPN is in the process of committing hairy carry.

They will be history within 5 years.

Finebaum hasn't been good for years. It started when he moved to JOX and got worse when he went to ESPN. The show became about people trying to be seen instead of idiots losing their minds and not caring if 200 or 200,000 were listening.
