Any of the four are good enough to stop any offense in the NCAA.

Each have their specific strengths.

Second-half points

South Carolina: 27 (21 in the fourth quarter)

I was about to say a lot of SC's yardage and points given up have come deep in the 4th when the game is in hand and then this stat popped up.

I still think LSU's defense is probably the best. Like someone said earlier our offense has been so bad that its forcing our defense to go out every 5 minutes. LSU is the best 1rst half defense. Our second half defense probably ranks 4th behind Bama, USCe, and UF.

LSU's offense is so bad that its starting to affect our Defense
An offense that can't control the clock leaves your defense on the field too damn long. It wears down the defense, and by the end of the year the stamina of your defense has diminished greatly + injuries will be piling up.

The great news is that, despite our pass defense (which is still giving up 100 yards per game LESS than last season) ranking, we're still in the top half of SEC defenses.

What are you laughing at? Bama clearly has the best right now, UF out D'd you the other day, and USCe is playing better than you are as well.

I think we should calrify how we are supposed to answer this question.

Is it the best D - like if all the people who are supposed to be playing are healthy?

Or is it the best D as of this exact point in time?

UF out D'd you the other day

As a result of a terrible offensive showing and several injuries along the way. If we are looking at Ds as stand alone units, I would say LSU and FLA are more or less even. FLA appears to be getting better safety play than LSU right now... which does suprise me. But I would say LSU's front 7 is better than FLA's. At least until Kwon went out for the season. That may change going forward.

Quoted by roadGator: Have you compared times of possession to make this claim about WV and the other teams you mentioned?

If both teams are scoring a ton their defenses are out their more often but for approximately the same amount of time. No?

WVU's t.o.p.: 28:54...just ahead of LSU's average....

I dont know... I would say LSU but our D is on the field for 80% of the game, which is no fault of their own, and are dead. Love the D, hate the O.

Guess ill say its Bama or UF.
