JSU wouldn't even hire him for football. What a fall from the top. Poor guy.

My Gump contact told me Eli was fired because he is a flaming a-hole and there were personal issues with him. It kind of lines up. Regardless of how popular you are, you need to act a certain way to keep your job.

To be fair, Jax State’s PxP guy for football and basketball has been with them 40 years.

This whole month or two of Eli Gold is strange. Who tf cares?

Simply sounds like someone didn't save very well for retirement...

Have an upvote to cancel out overly-sensitive ball guy’s downvote.
Together, we can elevate this board.

Wow, Eli gone, Saban gone, Gary and Verne Gone. If Finebaum dies or retires, Bama fans may never recover

what is the story on why Eli was let go? It was way out of left field to me.

No way would JSU replace Mike Paris. He is the voice of the Gamecocks and the best in the business. Go back and listen his call of the OT win against Ole Miss.
As far as Eli goes, well I'll tell you a personal story. At a mall in Hoover. Eli is close by and a young man walks up and says I love listening to you on radio for Alabama or something to that effect. Eli then basically tells the kid he is much more and has done NFL and Nascar. Not a total a-hole but close. At a Shelby county Alum gathering he spoke for a minute took some questions and then decided to leave. As he was walking out he took no photos and told people his question session was over and to basically leave him alone. After the 2013 A&M game I am on the shuttle bus at Bush Intercontinental and Eli and his wife get on and he looks at me for a sec and says nothing. No hello, how are you. So I say, good morning Eli and he says not one word back, just looks at me. Basically, leave me alone. I'm sure I just caught him at bad times but the impression he left on me in just 3 encounters was that of a jerk. I think he may have been a jerk to the wrong person in the end.

Gary and Verne Gone. Thank God. Got so tired of Bama making a big play and Gary going "aw, jeez".If Finebaum dies or retires, Bama fans will rejoice like winning the national title.

Good luck getting any information on pitch count, innings or score. You will know exactly what the uniforms look like though.

I hear he has a plush deal with an Arena Football team too. Maybe the Opp recreation center will hire him to do basketball.

After a series of conversations over a period of time, Eli was presented with an opportunity to continue his contributions to the CTSN broadcast team in the coming years in a more limited role, including the lead broadcast role for this year's A-Day game. Unfortunately, he declined the opportunity
And decided to go scorched earth on all things Alabama
