Former LSU head football coach Ed Orgeron is adamant that he does not want to coach anywhere in the 2022 season, be it at the collegiate level or in the NFL. But that does not mean that the national championship winning coach is shutting the door on a return.

In fact, he knows he wants to make a comeback. Orgeron revealed his plans for the future on a recent interview with the Dan Patrick Show.

“I want to take a year off,” Orgeron said. “Think about this — I’ve been going to a university, since I started college, for 42 years. I want to just take one year off. Settle down. Let the dust settle. I have three great sons. I want to spend my time working with them. Settle down and then see what’s available for me next year.”

“I left LSU with no regrets,” Orgeron said. “I knew one day that was going to happen. You can’t have two losing seasons at LSU. That’s the standard. We set the standard at 15-0. They gave me a great settlement. I don’t have to work again in my life if I don’t want. So they were very fair to me.”

Really? None? No player decisions, coaching staff decisions, or play calling decisions?

None at all?

He coached them to arguably the greatest CFB season in modern history and made two great hires in Aranda and Joe Brady and then received a $16 million buyout.

I would have zero regrets as well.

I don't think he is worthy of a P5 defensive coordinator job, but there isn't a program in the country that wouldn't hire him as a D-line coach. Even at LSU when things went into the shitter, dude never lost the team and was recruiting his arse off. I don't see it happening in BR, but I wish there was a way to keep him around.

"Alabama hires Ed Orgeron as analyst" is something I expect to see within the next year.

Has he had so many head injuries that he forgot about coaching DL for the Saints?

Would take him as a D-Line coach in a heartbeat.

TBF, he also took a year off between his gig at USC and taking a job as an assistant at LSU. He didn't coach anywhere in 2014. He also wasn't coaching in college in 2008.
