Academics, other states' television markets, NONE of this shite adds one iota of entertainment value for me while watching a football game or listening to a baseball game on the radio.

They should be on that list. Have them and Va Tech and you lock up large state universities in two very populated states without SEC teams.

Since the SEC is trying to improve its academic street cred I'll approach it from that angle.

VT is something like 30 places ahead of Virginia in terms of overall research expenditures. Plus they would make a good natural rival for A&M with the schools having a similar background.

For the other I pick Duke. Having both Vandy and Duke (both AAU members) is good for the SEC overall, plus Duke is in the top 10 in terms of overall research expenditures.

I salivate at the prospect of a TAMU/VT matchup, I cannot lie

Give me UNC and UVA. Florida and Vanderbilt can't carry the conference's academics by themselves.

Obviously UVa and UNC. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool. UVa is arguably the second best public school in the US behind Berkeley and UNC isn't too far behind.

They also bring in the DC, Richmond, Charlotte and Raleigh markets.

I love college sports, but damn, there are more ways to add to a conference than having a good football/basketball/baseball team.

Of course, we could always perform addition by subtraction and kick the two Mississippi schools out.
