They said he’s never beaten an SEC team that finished over .500 and has lost 8 straight to ranked teams.
And he’s making 11m a year and a new 62m guaranteed contract???
Had no idea it was that bad. What the hell has he done to justify that contract?

It’s the price of playing poker in the SEC. Given his consistency MO figures it’s worth paying little extra vs going out and attracting an unknown quantity and risk pulling an Auburn.

You have some coaches that can win big games and then lose to shitty opponents. I'd take the guy that wins the ones he's supposed to over that.
I still have nightmares over losing to fricking Memphis and Arkansas after beating the good teams on our schedule.

Drink is a weird mf but his teams are always competitive. He’s been way better than I would have ever thought.

I think his agent convinced Mizzu that UF wanted him when there really wasn't too much interest except as a fall back plan.

Yep he has never beat a team in the SEC that had a winning conference record that season which is crazy considering their record the past few seasons. A bad sign for ever getting them playoff bound though.

Drink is a more steady Houston Nutt. The highs aren't as high in conference play, but they are nowhere near as low.
Drink also tends to hold serve in OOC games. Yes, he lost to Army a few years ago but that Army team could have knocked off half the SEC that season. Nothing worse than facing a red hot triple option team in the bowl season when they've had time to throw in some extra tricks.
Winning 6-9 games a season guaranteed doesn't sound too bad, especially when you have a 10+ game season thrown in the mix every now and then.

A steady coach is a good thing. Arkansas has had John L. Smith having a nervous breakdown, Bert getting drunk, Chad Morris as a panic hire, and a career position coach as a second panic hire.

I can't think of anything more boring than a team that always beats who they are suppose to but never beats anyone they aren't suppose to. Not that it is necessarly bad coaching, it is just boring, predictable, and being stuck in that would just seem to be a momentum killer and uninspiring for a program
At some point if a program gets stagnant, I'd rather just take the risk on hiring someone that might fall flat on their face, but also might be a diamond in the rough

Nor should you. Drink hasn't delivered a title, but damn, man, he's a good coach and he's been successful for you. I'd rather have that consistency than wander in the desert for a decade.
