They entered the draft. Every year prior to this year, apparently, that was what ended eligibility.
Otherwise, we would have seen multitudes of players enter the draft, go undrafted, and then come back to college.

Like I've said in every post, the cutoff is arbitrary. Former NFL washouts never tried to return to college football before, so when it happened the conferences needed to be able on the fly say thats not allowed.

If y’all want to maintain the amateur integrity of the sport, then maintain it.
It is only arbitrary now because, if you don’t put the line between those two situations, then multiple SEC teams and not just LSU would be at fault.

Except the conference isn’t saying that’s not allowed. They’ve already allowed several of those players to be rostered.
They’re saying LSU isn’t allowed to do it.

So Texas, Missouri, South Carolina, Kentucky and Arkansas are up for expulsion as well then? These teams actually have players who “received money” from the NFL on their rosters.

What about Hutson? Received perdiem checks from Dallas and Cleveland. Yet is in the Texas roster and Texas does is not being expelled from the SEC.

Yeah there has been slippage since college basketball eligibility was updated in 2018 and has done really well.
But there has been no sliding past signed contracts of employment.

Did that player record any minutes playing for Alabama under the TRO? The answer is yes. That's precedent. Bediako played until the court said he couldn't. It was not because Sankey said so.

Your biggest gripe is Bama listened to the court before Sankey intervened in other words. I imagine if Sankey had to intervene those games would not count

The SEC knows exactly how to define a professional, and all of these college athletes sign contracts for revenue sharing or NIL to get paid. They're one in the same. The reason the SEC doesn't want to go on record in defining professionalism is because they are trying to prevent the players from calling themselves employees, unionizing, and collectively bargaining. This would end all conferences as it would be better for one entity to negotiate with a players union than each individual conference as the players would play each side against the other for higher pay/benefits and athletics would no longer be affordable for most of the schools. It's already heading that way. Sankey and the SEC are fighting an inevitable losing battle. That's why LSU fans are not backing down and taking a stand. You're watching the last dying gasps of the SEC in real time, and Sankey is the leader going down the ship. I hope that's etched on his tombstone one day: "Here lies the a-hole that brought down the SEC"
