UConn with their absurd tourney success from relative obscurity in that same timeframe makes UF a greater afterthought than they should be.

No. They put effort and resources into it and it has paid off. It makes their football situation all the more befuddling though but with respect to baseball and basketball I see nothing random

I guess you just chalk it up to excellent coaching hires.
Pretty much. They had Donovan for most of the millennium & Golden is a stud.
The Mike White years seem pretty mediocre (oof as a UGA fan) but their other 2 hires have been money. And they have the cash to hold on to a good coach once they find him.

They've been really good in baseball too despite the lack of fan support which I will never understand.
UF pretty consistently fills the new stadium. Believe they've been top 7 or 8 every year in attendance since it opened. Don't see anything wrong with the fan support.

Good to hear. To be honest, I was thinking back to when O'Sullivan was supposed to be a name to watch for LSU and that was one of the sticking points as to why he would leave. I love the LSU/UF baseball rivalry and want it to keep going and the fans make the game even that much better.

One thing is for sure though, the Vols just aren't very good

Florida always had the resources and geographical advantage to excel in every sport. It’s no surprise that they’re the only school with a title in all three major sports. Once UAA decided to get serious, Florida was gonna be a strong program. Coaching matters in basketball more than ever. I think it’s more random that Florida has been mid in football since Tebow graduated. Zero excuse for Florida to not compete for titles in football.
Do you think Golden stays 20 years like Billy D, or does he move on to the NBA? I can inly imagine that coaching in college is a PITA

It is hard to say. Golden is very analytical like NBA coaches, but he loves the tough, gritty players more than the superstars, so I could see him having an interest in the NBA and also I could see him being turned off by it.
With his age, and the age of his kids, I think we have a good chance of keeping him around for a while. I sure hope so.

No, not really. UF is and has been incredibly balanced w competitive teams across their athletic dept for 40++ years. The biggest surprise to most would be how UF didn't do eons better in football and basketball all those many years ago.

I fully anticipate Golden taking a shot at the NBA at some point, but think we get 10+ years out of him. He's fully ingrained into the UF and Gainesville communities, and his family is so young.
Think we have something cooking with Golden and Sumrall.

Vernon Maxwell was the SECs 2nd leading scorer behind Pistol Pete. He was instrumental in the Rockets winning 2 NBA titles. He was most definitely a superstar. Horford is on his 19th season in the NBA only behind LeBron and Kyle Lowry.
BTW - Maxwell and I used to go at it on the court in college. I was one of the few guys that could guard him, even through his sharp elbows. True story.

You just now realizing how good they have been this century?

I wish Florida fans would complain less about their AD.
all they do is cry about Disney Gators bullshite while their non revenue sports shine.
Mens basketball and baseball matter too.

Basketball isn't a "non revenue sport."

I'm telling you that since you're the one making that claim and got riled up over a message board troll.

Loved me some Mad Max but I think you are blending 1994 and 1995.
Instrumental in the 1994 championship for sure. In 1995, he became a problem on the team after being benched for Drexler.
He never played a minute in the finals.

Horford and Noah is one of the better 4/5 college ball combos of all time imo.
Sure maybe neither turned into a superstar but both were elite NBA bigs in their prime. Noah was DPOY and the entire Chicago offense ran through him he was such a good passer.
Horford was what like a 5 time all star? Always one of the highest IQ guys in the league. Elite defender. Giannis and Embiid's daddy despite being considerably smaller.
