College football is an emotional game filled with a lot players who grew up in terrible situations, most of whom thank God for the situations they have been blessed with. Why should it matter to them if it makes you all pissy every time you here some athlete say thanks God?

Why are the pig posters so absolutely pathetic and beyond awful whenever their team is power bottom in the SECW?

I wound understand this if it was 'it's a God thing' Chizik. But have not seen this about Gus? I know his wife spoke at a religious event (Gus shut up parody), but Gus is a football coach.

If a coach just lives his religion without forcing it on players, it's usually not that big a problem, but I have seen what religious coaches can do when they demand the same from their players. It can be corrupting to a program. Our last baseball coach was that way.

I think the opposite, the religious coaches always seem to suck the most.

I don't see how having a religious coach can hurt.

Spurrier is a religious coach. I'd put his knowledge of the scripture out there against anyone's ... but he's no hypocrite and that is what works for him.

Religious coaches who are hypocrites - like anything else in life - the worst scum bags in life are hypocrites.

No clue about that, but he is a devout catholic who attends mass every Sunday.

He is very careful not to discuss religion or politics publicly, though.

Do you know anything about your coach?

Of course after his last prayer in Jonesboro he bolted.

Goddamn y'all I was just joking. Saban doesn't strike me as a guy who would be passionate about anything other than football, especially faith.

I actually think more of a person who can be religious without everyone having to know. I'm sure there are other coaches like that in the SEC
