And no one cares. Any school would trade in the al-sports trophy for the best football team.

Why does the sport need you to be elite then?

You mean besides the 2 national titles in Football and 3 in Basketball?

Don't know if you were being sarcastic, or have a very, very, very dumb take.

Yes, but newcomers Texas and Oklahoma are pretty close outside the big 3 sports.

Your AD was saying Tennessee was "The everything school" a couple years back. It was idiotic.

Texas has the best overall athletic department.

On paper, sure.

But in the last twenty years they have:

0 football titles
0 basketball titles
0 baseball titles

In that timeframe

5 SEC teams won NC in football (13 total titles)
2 SEC teams won NCAA tourney (4 total titles)
9 SEC teams won CWS (12 total titles)

I'm sure they're great in all the other sports though.

looking at the Director's Cup, only Texas has an argument for being better than Florida

I'd call it a toss up - Florida has more top 10 finishes; but Texas has 5 actual 1st place finishes; lean towards Texas

after that; only UGA is even in the top 15

and frick YOU for making me defend the Gators

I listed total titles and broke it down by major sports. I wasn’t going to list every sport.

Then you just would've listed football and mens basketball.

What are "major sports" in your eyes?

Because we have Natties in Football, Basketball, and Baseball.

Schools that can claim that
Florida
Ohio State
Michigan
UCLA
Stanford
(honestly shocked LSU does not have one in Basketball, they had the best big man ever, well tied with Wilt Chamberland)

Schools with 3 titles in both Football and Basketball in the entire NCAA in Division 1.

Florida and..

actually we are the only one. Hrm.

We miss Foley though for sure. Strick has nailed a few hires, but has failed way to often in them.

What's dumb about my statement that Florida has been far more relevant than Tennessee?

Athletic Programs are based on all sports, not just the major ones.

I would have to give Texas the crown for top athletic program.

Florida is 4th in the SEC (10th in the Nation) in Team National Championships with 44.
Texas - 62
Arkansas - 54
LSU - 48

LINK

Florida is 2nd in the SEC (5th in the Nation) in Team and Individual National Championships with 390.
Texas - 461

Umm...the only major sports are Football and Mens Basketball, and in the South and the midwest Baseball.

Every other sport is not major, at all.

Scratch that..women's gymnastics is always a top tier sport. Very athletic women in very small uniforms doing very flexible things. Whoever made gymnastics is a hero.
