Do you miss announcers not screaming or do you prefer it?

We had Keith Jackson raised his voice but succinctly called exciting plays without screaming. Love him or hate him, Verne never screamed into the mic. Musberger would get a little excited but it wasn’t over the top.
Now we’ve got Fowler screaming into the mic dying to be heard. McDonough loses his voice he gets so excited like in the MSU v Michigan game a while ago, don’t get me started on Tess and Gus Fagson.
They make it about them.
Fowler, Tess or Johnson would be on this call like “VINCE YOUNG TO THE CORNER SHAJSPLZNFFNODIEIENS HES GOT IT OH MY GOOOOOOOOODDDDD TOUCHDOOOOWNNN AAAAAAGGGGHSHHSJDKKR!!!!!!!”

I can’t agree with you more and I wonder if the screaming is to get casual fans excited during the game? It almost makes it unwatchable.

The screaming that Fowler and Tess and Gus do take away from the play and make it about them.
Keith knew just to shut up and let the crowd make it exciting. You’ll notice in that Rose Bowl clip he shuts up and they just watch Vince Young walk around with the crowd noise and the moment for a minute. Less is more

I don't notice Fowler over announcing. Love McDonough. But Gus and Tessitore are awful.

Gus got word that his March Madness schtick was cool and just decided to do it every football game on Fox. Too much of a good thing can, in fact, be bad.

On epic plays they should scream. But it should be very rare. No issue if they get excited for an epic play..they should.

It certainly depends on the play. I absolutely think screaming would add to the Kick 6 broadcast.

UGA got rid of their screamer, Scott Howard. Was Munsons sidekick and got promoted when Larry retired.

If it is supposed to be a neutral broadcast it is never OK to get carried away. For the home teams guys calling the game that should be the fans preference. I prefer to keep it professional. I don't mind them getting excited, but some of them seem to have majored in drama.
FWIW, I am not a fan of our new Voice of the Gators, Sean Kelly. I am trying to give it time and see if I warm up to him, but so far, not my cup of tea. Full disclosure, I didn't like Mick Hubert when he replaced David Steele either, but later changed my tune and loved listening to Mick calling the games.

Depends on the announcer. I’d say most are really bad at it so I overall prefer not. The Gus Johnsons of the world suck and ruin things. The good ones at it truly enhance things though. Could definitely use more of them.

I miss Verne. I know he forgot names or just couldn’t pronounce them but he was like everyone’s grandfather.
