Do UF fans hold Spurrier or Meyer in higher regard?

Even though Meyer won an extra title it seems like UF fans don't care at all to even say he coached there. I get Spurrier played there and won a Heisman and Urbs quit on them but who did yall have more fun rooting for? Id bet Spurrier there too just because of his personality.

Meyer is a great coach but Spurrier is a living legend.

I have a ton of regard for Meyer, but this isn’t even a debate. Spurrier is an icon.

I woudl have to imagine its Spurrior right? its like if Billy Cannon was a NC and a million games at LSU.
Urban had a really good team, and is clearly an elite top 10 all time coach, but he also left that place a mess.

Spurrier, he changed the SEC and brought in a new era for the conference.
I know people will say Spurrier quit, and he did, but Meyer literally ran from Saban and Alabama. Meyer will forever will be a puss.

So 2 quitters. Got it!

Spurrier won a Heisman as a player and not only their first SEC title as a coach, but one of the most dominant stretches in SEC history aside from Bryant and Saban. Florida had a 25 game SEC winning streak going into death valley in 1997

I always liked Spurrier but I was pretty hard boiled in my younger days and I thought he needed to STFU and spend more time recruiting. I liked Meyer better when Meyer was here, and then started changing my tune as all of the discipline problems became obvious. Spurrier pissed me off when he left so quickly and left us scrambling.
Now I appreciate both, but Spurrier is an alum, so Spurrier by a long way. But I was never a Meyer hater like many UF fans. Although I am still pissed of that he let Les Miles out coach him in 2010. Everyone knew that was going to be a fake FG.
Although it was probably dumb arse Janoris Jenkins fault for not having contain.

surely you jest, Spurrier is a legend both on the field and in the coaches box. Meyers shouldn't be in the same conversation.

I would imagine it’s Spurrier easily for many reasons

I realized how stupid a question it was halfway through but still posted it

Should have questioned posting it earlier.

Obviously I am an outsider, but I don't think it's crazy to suggest that Meyer's time would have been more exciting as a fan. He absolutely dominated the East, including their main 2 rivals.
27-3 vs the East
5-0 vs Tennessee
4-1 vs Georgia
2006 they win a landmark national title by kicking the shite out of a media darling and kickstarting the SEC's run of dominance.
2007 Tebow's Heisman season
2008 another national title.
In the midst of all that too you have the basketball team winning back to back titles. Florida fans are really spoiled
Knowing what we know now, that Spurrier peaked at Florida and would eventually return in an ambassador role, while Meyer would go on to win big at another program, I could understand how Spurrier is more beloved. Especially being a legend as a player.

Spurrier > in every way.

I live in the 352 area code. I could walk into any bar, if they were open, and shout frick urban meyer... nobody would bat an eye. I would not receive the same reaction for saying that about Steve.

Spurrier's time was more exciting because of the style of football we played. 2009 was the least fun undefeated regular season ever. Most games were like watching a python slowly choke the life out of their victim, and not being certain they wouldn't get away until the end.
Ask any UF fans who lived through it how much they hated Meyer running the dive play with Chris Rainey or Jeff Demps. All the time. Everyone was like... you know these guys have blazing speed, right?
I always thought it was Mullen killing the offense, but it was Meyer. He was a nervous nelly on the sidelines.

We named our field after Spurrier.
Think that pretty much says it all

Did Spurrier fake a problem because a better coach entered the league, only to turn up at another school within short order?
No?
There's your answer then.
