I'm trying to conclude if Auburn has had a winning season in football this decade but keep getting stuck. Thanks in advance

To me logically it makes sense to start on the 0
so
2010-2019 is a decade
2020-2029 is a decade
etc.
so
2010-2019 is a decade
2020-2029 is a decade
etc.

I agree, but for the purpose of this thread I think a decade starts on a one and ends in a zero.

Decades in the Gregorian calendar are commonly defined as ten-year periods starting with years ending in "0" and ending with years ending in "9". The 2010s, for example, are considered to be 2010 to 2019.

Are you really trying to say that the number twenty is not in the twenties, but the number thirty is?

Interesting topic.
If you’re counting, the groups of 10 start with 0 (10-19, 40-49, 90-99).
HOWEVER, if you think of time, the first year was “1”, so…
I guess, in a way, both are correct.

Yes, unfortunately. The entire 6-5 season happened within the 2020 calendar year. I'm sure there are plenty of online dialectics on whether the 2009 title happened in the 2000s or 2010s, but that was way more ambiguous than this.

Traditional wisdom is to go with the one that helps your argument. It's always worked for me.

Have you guys ever thought about how, on the day after your first birthday, you're actually celebrating the second occurrence of that day in your lifetime? And that even just a second after your first 'birth day you're already in your 2nd year of life?
Long story short, if you're 39, you're really actually 40

Decade ends on 12/31/xxx0.

You have to remember, 2020 doesn’t even exist here.

Zero is not a countable number. It would be 1 after 365 days. That would be the first year of the decade. Roman calendar and Gregorian calendar are not at the same starting point.

Since there was no year 0, decades begin with 1 and end with 0.
The last century ended on !2/31/2000, and the 21st century began on 1/1/2001.
the current decade began on 1/1/2021.

But you can't say that the first 365 days of Earth was "Year 0".

So, with that logic, 12-31-2020 was still "the teens".

The period between 01/01/00 and 12/31/00 is the first but it's not complete until 12/31/00.

By this logic a person would be a one-year-old a gazillionth of a second after they were born. But definition of "birthday" is "the anniversary of the day on which a person was born". So a person becomes one year of age on one's first birthday (not "birth day"); and on their 39th birthday, they become 39 years of age, not 40 years of age.
