The real question is whether the new coach anticipated this level of attrition, probably not.
Of course he didn’t.

I don’t think anyone did.

I really hope those in charge view it as rats off a ship like y’all do, and not a massive problem with transfer rules and NIL absurdity.

I’ll be heartbroken if the rest of the country gets saved from this ridiculous shite.

Can't say that some Georgia fans wouldn't say it too if it were happening to them.
You can definitely say that 100% if the likes on this very topic on the Georgia board are upvotes.

I don’t doubt that.

I didn’t even know your portal opens for 30 days if the head coach retires.

I mean it's been a rule for a year.

A&M's portal opened early when they fired Jimbo.

So what you mean here is I’ve been right all 30 times I’ve typed “this is a little different” to LSU posters saying everyone has dealt with this?

I don't think anyone likes what's happening now if they were truly honest. But I do think some of your players are leaving because they committed to the coach. Let's be honest about it, if you are committing to the brand then you grew up a fan. There are not a lot of Bama fans or Georgia fans or LSU fans outside of their area. I doubt Brock Bowers grew up rooting for Georgia or Downs grew up rooting for Bama. They went there due to the coach and that coach's program. If the head coach and the whole staff leave, I kind of get why a kid would want to go as well. Especially when you weren't even recruited by the current coach and staff.

How does a 1980-2007 window stack up against a 1980-2022 window, Long Dawg?

Be specific.

No one likes what's going on in college football right now. Alabama fans are being trolled relentlessly because they were the last ones to realize the NIL/portal madness is a bad thing because this is the first time they've really been on the wrong end of it.

Up to this point, Alabama fans have largely laughed at anyone suggesting the NIL/portal combo is a bad thing.

I didn’t see any Bama fans crying about disloyalty when they picked up those guys in the portal

I wasn’t under the delusion that these guys should have/had loyalty to the school or fan base, but I am a little surprised how easy it is for so many to walk away from their teammates. That does surprise me.

For the last few years, transfers have been a massive piece of Bama’s rosters

That’s a massive exaggeration. Other than Williams and maybe 2 other players none were real difference makers.

This is the first time it's happened that the special portal didn't coincide with the regular portal. No coach has retired after the playoff in the NIL era until Saban.

Incorrect.

The portal opened for A&M players in November when Jimbo was fired.

I would call bullshite on this because Saban said early on that the portal, and to an extent NIL, wasn’t good for CFB because of the player movement it would create. Bama fans had the same opinion because Saban was our guy and knew the sport like people did. Saban also said that the portal could work both ways and that it could help teams like Bama and other high profile teams moreso than mid-tier teams.

Of course, he didn’t know that a rule would exist where one team’s roster would be essentially a fire sale for everyone else with no option for the team to replenish the stock as the roster shrank.

At least our Heisman QB didn't opt out of his bowl game like a bitch.

Daniels loves LSU so much.

And every Bama player to win the Heisman was recruited by Bama. LSU's two best players in history were transfers.

Is this supposed to make LSU fans feel bad? 5 of the last 7 winners have been transfers. Who cares? I have some bad news for you. It's going to happen a lot more going forward too
