Same and have had it for probably 5-6 years since the last time this shite happened. Used to only carry live during college football season but now that I’m married wife wants it year round

You’re not doing anything special by forcing yourself to go through weird streaming workarounds just to avoid moving your money from one billion dollar media company to another lol

You can split the cost of YTTV with people outside your house. Cant do that with cable.

Yep. A bud of my shared with me as his "uncle". Until it's settled I'll just muddle through.

I just cut the cord with Spectrum when it cracked $300 (internet, home phone, 2 DVRs). Best feeling in the world.

Honestly there's so much free stuff on Roku, Pluto, regular YouTube, etc. even without OTA it's insane.

For me, it's the ease of access streaming provides. I can bring it up on my phone or on any tv with a Roku stick and not need a box. That's why I originally broke with cable, not necessarily the cost.

You can do that with cable providers now. They have streaming apps too.

Because of idiots having the privilege to waste 4+ hours to watch their "team".

If I want to see what happened during a game I'll watch highlights.

Bonus, I don't have to sit in front of an idiot box.

When I first switched to YouTube TV, it was $34 a month but when everybody cut the cord it slowly went up over the last eight years

Again, you can thank the Mouse (and a couple of others). 8 years ago this was the price.

Today, it is > $80 and if the Rat is successful (like they did to Charter (2023) & Dish (2023) during football seasons --- notice a trend?), it will be closer to $100. Nothing will have changed, except you are now paying for internet + cost of programming separately [and that cost alone exceeds cable now].

With respect to the rat, I'm curious how they leverage pressure to raise prices on their content, all while losing hundreds of millions at the box office; raising park prices because of down attendance (they still are down millions of patrons compared to pre-pandemic), etc.

My hope: is one-day, YouTube TV, allows a-la-carte packaging. But even Disney (ESPN at least) knows: without contracts or at least 'the bundle', people will be only purchasing during the active seasons of their favorite sports.

Yeah, I know; I used a DirecTv Stream trial last weekend. But, when I originally left Charter, that wasn't an option at the time.

Why are you paying that much? I have the Disney/ESPN/Hulu premium deal for around $40 a month. Use an antenna for local channels.

I’ve got ESPN Unlimited and another free app for the networks. TV sucks.

I’ve been sailing the Seven Seas for the last decade. I don’t feel the least bit guilty about it either. $10 a month. Every channel, sports package and PPV on Earth. Can watch on TV, tablet, phone, computer. It’s a no brainer.

Except FUBO just came out with a sports only package. You get most if not all sports packages for$45 first month, then $55 a month after that. We don't watch all the other crap on TV, so we don't necessarily need all the frill channels. However, we do subscribe to BritBox and Prime.

The new package, called Fubo Sports, will launch on September 2 and offer more than 20 sports-focused networks, including ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNews, ESPN U, ACC Network, Big Ten Network, CBS Sports Network, FS1, FS2, NFL Network, SEC Network, Tennis Channel and the Fubo Sports Network. The tier also includes ABC, CBS and Fox owned-and-operated stations as well as affiliates in select markets.

Both Disney and Alphabet stock has fallen over the past few weeks. They need to figure something out.

Except...

1. Hulu + Live TV <- owned by Disney
2. Fubo <- owned by Disney

So in these cases you're just giving more money to the ones causing the issue.

Doesn't matter if your only concern is the content, but if you want to "vote with your wallet," both of those are a bad idea.
