Went last year in Gulf Shores. If you’re going for bikinis you’ll be disappointed. If you’re going for volleyball it’s great.

The Director’s Cup is what it is. But in a perfect world it would be weighted. It won’t be, but there is no way the average fan considers women’s rowing or tennis to be as important as football or basketball. But the directors cup does.

Didnt we just take a series from you in both Baseball and Softball recently?
And if not for Nate getting hurt in the middle of the second game we would have been 2-0 against you instead of 1-1 in basketball.

bill byrne was also a big proponent of it. Seeing alabama at the top is no surprise with greg there. personally think they should just do it for the non revenue sports only, but like you say, no one but a handful of old timers really even cares.
We like the Director’s Cup at Texas. But of course you will most often like what you are good at.
In addition though, a university being good at many sports can be an attractive recruiting tool. Athletes often date other athletes, and it’s good for each member of a couple to have a place where they can compete at a high level in their respective sports.
And of course, athletes who connect and have kids, often have athletic kids. Arch may get much of his speed genetics from his athletic mama, for example. An athletic kid may certainly be interested in playing sports one day for his or her dad’s or mom’s University.

I suppose with our current AD it is fitting we are at the bottom of the standings with their past AD. Perhaps there is something in common.

I don't know about all that, but having a budget about to surpass $400,000,000.00 sure helps attract all those piddling non-revenue athletes.

Competition is competition

Womens beach volleyball is a great sport to watch. Def think you should go to a game...just do not bring your wife or you will get in trouble, especially if the women playing volleyball are in thongs...

While this might be true these standings have nothing to do with it. I mean, Stanford is number 1. Go check out their records in the Big 3 sports. This is for schools that offer all kinds of non-revenue useless sports like fencing. These standings don't mean jack squat. Princeton is number 7 . C'mon now.

They need to make each sport worth a proportional number of points to the number of schools that compete in it.
Stanford and Ohio State (and probably Texas and Florida) count Championships as points in actually 5 different sports where less than 20 teams compete.
Rowing, Field Hockey, Gymnastics?

That's a good suggestion and I think Texas would certainly be fine with that. Texas will probably finish the same if not higher. Texas is as competitive as anyone in Football, Baseball, and Basketball, and then will have the extra points from all those piddling non-revenue sports.
Go ahead and weight the scoring.

This is what I might say too if my school was ranked 134th

Stanford and Ohio State each have 31 competitive teams included in the Director's Cup, whereas Texas and Florida both have 19. It isn't a perfect thing, but you try your best with what you have.
