I have always heard that a brick was thrown his office window the day Ole Miss beat Bama in Tuscaloosa in the late 80's. ( I was in school at that time, but unfortunately wasn't at the game). I assumed it was always true as I remember news reports and being told of this by a friend who went to Bama. Now, I'm reading today on here this never happened? Can anyone verify if this happened? Thanks.

Why else would you leave Bama for UK in the middle of a contract unless you were fearful for your families safety.

he claims he did. but i read somewhere that the physics of it happening the way he said it did were highly unlikely. (and it was supposed to have happened in 88, not 87)and it wasn't for losing to auburn, but supposedly happened after the ole miss homecoming loss

Bama was like 30-5-2(against OM) going into that game against Ole Miss with the most recent loss being in 1976. It wasn't a happy time on the Capstone.

It's the only time Bama has ever lost to Ole Miss in Tuscaloosa. I also believe it was on the day the Bear Bryant museum was dedicated.

I think Billy Brewer was your coach at the time.

Let me start by saying if I get a "cool story bro" there will be hell to pay.

I was at a wedding reception in Illinois in 97, ended up getting bumped from my table and sat with some folks I didn't know. An older lady at the table had a strong southern accent so I asked where she was from, being a southerner myself. Yada, yada, yada...I was sitting next to Linda Knowles (no relation to Beyonce).

Linda Knowles was secretary to Bear Bryant, Stallings, etc. and still works for UA in some capacity I think. After I changed underwear from shitting myself at the luck, we talked for about 30 minutes. She was extremely kind and indulged me in just about everything I asked about. I mentioned the brick through Curry's window and she gave me a sideways glance and smile. "Honey, there was never a brick" was all she said and we moved on to the next subject.

She was pretty forthcoming about Bear's indiscretions with women. I hadn't heard much about that before then and it was a little heartbreaking.

All in all, one of the cooler moments in my life.

Yes Billy was coach, and I remeber every radio station in Oxford played "From Dixie With Love" for hours on end after this game

No doubt. The thing that took me by surprise was that she was not in awe of Bryant at all. There was fondness, but my entire life, anytime Bryant was mentioned it was always this bigger than life thing. She did not talk about him in that way at all. Now that I'm older, I understand that, but at the time it was weird.

Well once you help a man to a couch and out of his shoes and pants after he's had too much to drink, I guess he loses a little of his mystique.

Coach Bryant was the greatest football coach of all time, but he was still just a man, with all a man's faults and foibles.

Our virtues and our failings are inseparable, like force and matter. When they separate, man is no more.
