It's not far fetched that local banks would loan money on a car to his parents just by knowing who their son is.

I love how the article assumes Guice needs "50,000 sitting around" to buy a new Range Rover. Nearly anyone in America, rich or poor, can get a loan. And even if you can't, these players all have at least one relative who can. There are plenty of uncles out there who will take out a loan and fix their nephew up with a new ride, assuming that when the NFL check comes they will remember the uncle who took care of them. It's how nearly all of these athletes ride around in relatively nice cars. And it is perfectly legal under NCAA rules. Hell, loans are how most poor Americans still end up riding around in nice cars.
That's not how it works
Mind you, this was before the majority of OM's mess.
Basically, the NCAA doesn't believe black kids can afford cars without help, therefore they must be investigated

Good grief, it's catholic school not Philips Exeter. The tuition isn't that high. And they give out lots of scholarships for things other than athletics.

I hope it is
Can't most people get a loan on own merits?

I'm pleased with this. Gotta cheat like Alabama to compete like Alabama.

Give Range Rover to RB, lose to MSU by 30
Not exactly going as planned so far

I'll say that it definitely doesn't look good on Guice's part. IF the car was obtained legitimately, then why delete the picture?
I'm not saying he did anything illegally or not. I get tired of the same schitck of fanbases automatically assuming a black college athlete can't get a loan for a vehicle, so therefore, he must have received it from a booster.
I can't tell the model of that vehicle from the picture and I doubt anyone else on here can either. What may be 5-6 years old to one of us is brand new to one of these kids. I won't pass judgment!!

If you have 650k for a linebacker, how much is a All American rb worth?

The insinuation here is a bit different than the usual shtick. Not some average car and not for himself but a parent(not saying this is what is actually happening in photo, but is what people are assuming).

I mean, no, most people probably don't qualify for a Range Rover, and for good reason.

Is he just standing beside it?
I got a pic standing beside a Lamborghini Countach
Then the owner started cussing and screaming for me to get away from his car

Rosebowl is on his way to Baton Rouge.

So, as another poster mentioned...I haven't seen anywhere that Guice or his mother own the car. My 16 year old son (who I don't have to worry about getting a D-1 scholarship anywhere) got his picture taken in front of an LFA that he and his friends saw parked at a shopping center a few weeks ago. I can guarantee that he isn't getting one of those anytime soon.
I guess the smoking gun is more the fact that he deleted the post with the picture, than the picture itself.

You left out the part where that very uncle WAS pinched and disassociated

Everybody watching the game Saturday saw Guice's story. No assumptions about his family need be made
