If LSU wants to be known as a 1st class university with a Top 5 athletics program, LSU should always do a bonafide national search for key positions!! The current chaos at LSU demonstrates a complete lack of leadership!!
I have no idea what was lacking in President Tate's leadership that would cause Gov Landry to send him packing. So I can't have an informed decision on whether that move was merited or not. But I do feel that had Tate still been in place without limitations on his scope of decision making, he would have required a comprehensive national search for a new AD and football coach. Might have ended up with the exact same outcome but I think Tiger Nation would feel much more confident in both hires it that had been executed.

Wild that UA is 60% out of state
In case you haven't encountered this, UA recruits out of state high school SRs. very heavily and offers substantial scholarships. Many top GPA students from really good schools get offered big $$, some even full tuition scholarships instead of very small scholarships or none to LSU. If all or nearly all out of state tuition is scholarshipped, then cost of attendance is equal to or less at UA than at home state LSU.
Untrue take on Scott Woodward
Posted by LongTime Tiger on 10/27/25 at 3:20 pm
You might not care and may think Woodward has been horrible. But he did a great job hiring Kim Mulkey and especially Jay Johnson. Gotta give credit if you are going to criticize.
Yes, the BK hire turned out poorly. But at the time, most who were objective and didn't immediately condemn him to hell for being a yankee, thought that it was a great improvement over a very disinterested at that time, Ed Orgeron.
But Stephen A Smith's take, as well as many fans, on Scott's failure(??) at aTm as well as the BK hire, have the story wrong.
Scott signed Jimbo to a 10 year $75M contract in December 2017. After the 2021 season and in response to the rumor that LSU was going to bring Jimbo home to be LSU's head coach, the new aTm AD increased and extended Jimbo's contract to a full 10 years again for $100M.
Scott Woodward had left aTm and become LSU's AD in 2019 and had fired Ed O in 2021.
Jimbo was never considered or vetted by Scott's office for the LSU job in 2021 but the rumor that LSU was going to offer him the job was leaked from LSU AD office and started by Scott.
So he leveraged the open job to get aTm to spend more and commit longer to Jimbo while he was pointed at hiring Brian Kelley.
Call him out if you want but he broke it off in aTm in 2021 & they paid for it dearly.
So, Stephen A., get the story right please! BTW, if LSU doesn't settle with BK for a lump sum, the $54M payout will be mitigated substantially by BK's new job, which his ego and recent failure will REQUIRE him to take next year.

Sloan being fired would’ve solved about 3% of the problem with this progrum.
Can't let this go by.
Sloan is responsible IMO for about 50% of the problems cause he can't call a 3rd or 4th down play for shite. He has kept Nuss in the pocket all year until Saturday when he moved the pocket twice, I beleive. I was so amazed I dropped my drink and had to go clean up in rest room so I might have missed the 2nd time.
Any good OC knows if you can't keep a clean pocket you have to move your QB a bit. Doesn't have to roll out fully although that should be part of the package. Just move his one way or the other behind the T-TE depending on the defense alignment.
re: Storming the field
Posted by LongTime Tiger on 9/27/25 at 1:10 am to PrayingMantis
Back in days when people actually respected authority and the rules most of the time, fans were explicitly told by Sid Crocker to not enter the field after the game. To be sure of that, on the floor of the stadium was a ring of law enforcement officers in uniform with to prevent fans from entering the field. I saw several times as a child/adolescent some overserved fan run out onto the field after the game and immediately be taken down and cuffed. Of course these were isolated incidents and the most doing it at one time was only a dozen or so but if was effective. At the risk of spending $500K for a fine I would think that LSU would go back to some show of LEO presence in the N EZ to prevent any more occurrences.

re: How many points will need to be scored to appease the rant Saturday night?
Posted by LongTime Tiger on 9/19/25 at 5:41 pm to IS_IT_GAMEDAY
Should have at least 6 possessions in 1H, with scoring TD's on 5 = 35 pts.
BK will begin 2H with starters and if they score will take them out. = 7 pts.
Backups will score 2 TD's and 2 FGs in 2H = 20
Total should be 65 to 7.

if you use him as a tight end you can match him up on guys playing safety or linebacker. you can motion him to detach him from the line and that brings a guy out of the box thats normally run support. Just a lot of ways to use him as a hybrid
Thank you for expressing some actual football knowledge concerning matchups and coverage.. If the back stays in or delays long enough, he will nearly always get a match on a LB, who will seldom be as agile or as fast. Advantage: #14

Wifi would be nice in all the venues. You would think that a sponsorship with the Official Cellular provider of LSU would include some service across campus.

If RC was white and spewed his shitty takes about white people being discriminated against in pro sports, his arse would be immediately labelled racist, hate speech, and be fired summarily from all his platforms. Sorry he continues to try to rep LSU and wish he was relegated to his podcast so fewer people would associated him with LSU.

And might have participated in the beginnings of rock and roll and the sexual revolution
You could learn a lot from him & he can hire Geek Squad to tell him how to turn off comments. He wins!
re: Who else enjoyed watching Dabos fired up and goofy mood change significantly
Posted by LongTime Tiger on 9/3/25 at 2:39 am to TheDeerHunter
To many of us his faith in God, family, and then football approach is refreshing and a throwback to a more sensible and responsible life. That part attracts many players and parents who believe that he will make them better men, and future husbands and fathers, and successful in their vocations.
I get that. What I don't get is his snarkiness and goofy, nerdiness that makes it difficult to fit into professional settings. Gosh, dang it!
But then if you remember he came from abject poverty in a small suburb in Alabama, and grew up through the lowly coaching position ranks, you begin to better understand his chip on the shoulder attitude.

re: Who will be the starting QB for LSU when the Tigers open up vs Clemson in 2026?
Posted by LongTime Tiger on 9/2/25 at 4:55 pm to Relham10
Agree. Watch how he plays in ACC with Pitt. He is the proto-typical NFL QB who can also run 4.6. If the transfers Pitt has brought in are ACC worthy, they will be competing for ACC championship and CFP berth.

For the price of about 4 stadium beers you can celebrate your birthday, or your divorce, or a kid's birthday or wish your ex a crappy day. Sounds like a bargain to me!

would expect it’s the opposite way around… like Chris Blair should be professional and unbiased because national people pick up the radio broadcast clips
Never been a member of the association that governs and trains PByP guys but many have Mass Comm degrees and some schools who have a dedicated Sports Broadcasting degree (LSU does not) train PByP announcers. But I just gave you above the exact wording from PA announcer association.
Blair is a "home team employed" PBYP guy even if he gets picked up by someone else. When Lyn Rollins is contracted with a non-LSU network to call LSU games his commentary is different than when he and Ronnie Rantz would do the TV for LSU baseball.
But in-house PA announcers are not to be "cheerleaders" and the extra enthusiasm shown by Borne or others borders on going over the line, although I love Dan and will miss his calls. But he never provided additional commentary, or urged the fans to "be loud" or other home team oriented verbiage. Blair and Doug Thompson can say "come on we need a hit" or any other use of "we" meaning the home team without violating their mission since they are defined as the home broadcasting crew and can be partisan.
