You mean like LSU x Saban for the better part of the last 2 decades?

Not even close. Maybe 10% Tiger fans continued to bemoan his leaving but it is very different when your dream coach leaves for NFL and then moves back to college after failing in the league. We were never really happy with Les but we did get another Natty with him so that eased the pain.
Check my old posts where I suggested we buy Les out and hire Nick back when he was reported to be going to Bama. AD would have been a GOAT if he would have done that. Only problem with not having Saban was that we couldn't consistently beat him at Bama

7 years of Portal shopping, Max and his fricked up family are what's part of the problem with college football now days.

Max was nothing but a model Tiger while he was here but didn't want to be stuck on the bench behind QBs brought in through portal. If you had a kid who played you might be a little more understanding of the desire to be on the field instead of just being a practice player.
Get used to it unless you want season tickets and parking to triple

Watch Golding will leave as soon as he gets a legit chance. Ole Miss isn’t what they think they are. Never will be.

I think Pete is at OM for the next 15 years if he is at least moderately successful and consistent at a competition level in SEC. Don't see him fitting in at many more D1 schools other than OM. OR, he will not meet the OM fan base's falsely elevated expectations and they will show him the door after 3-5 years.
Pete doesn't look like a HC genius and the trend is that the most successful head coaches are offensive gurus. I think it is easier to find an adequate DC to pair with a high scoring offense than to find a great OC to consistently put up big numbers to win shootouts.Plus a great offense excites the fan base much more than a dominant defense which stimulates ticket sales, donations and admission application increases.
OM will fall back to their rightful place in the mix and not be nationally relevant much longer IMO.

the reality is there aren't better coaches out there that Ole Miss can get. Kiffin was a rare opportunity for Ole Miss.

Probably agree about Kiffin being the top of their game. But. I think had they taken their time and searched/interviewed, or started the process secretly when the Lane to LSU rumors started, they could have gotten a proven HC at a lower level. But since they were SO SURE that Lane would never leave them AD Keith Carter was sitting on his hands when Lane said Bye-Bye! Then with HS signing day a few days away, they had to have a HC and some idea of co-ordinators to be able to recruit anyone. If you remember, Joe Juge was to be named Interim HC while a search proceeded. But the urgency prohibited that and "wild man" Pete was hastily named.
Never had it for tailgate but love vichyssoise at home. Can be served chilled. It's light and can be made to be really Cajun with seasoning & hot sause. Add a couple big peeled boiled shrimp and a few pieces of diced andouille and you have a spicy delicacy. Very rich with butter and cream/whole milk and filling but cools you since you can served it chilled. Also doesn't take long to prepare. Could be done the day before and refrigerate and then assemble at tailgate. I know it's not traditionally South LA but it is French in origin.
No way you get a decent ticket for face value (I'm guess face will be $125) on game day if we are 1-2 losses at the time. Still in hunt for CFP at that level and always tough tix for Bama when we are playing well.

re: Jake Brown MLB Draft

Posted by LongTime Tiger on 7/11/26 at 1:34 am to
Yes, he will play more games and not have to deal with 1-2 classes during the season. But he also will be playing 28 games per month. And depending on the club who drafts him, he may not get instruction as good as what he will get at LSU.
And, he might move up in draft order with another year to improve, get healed from his injury, and work on more skills.
Not saying he should stay at LSU, and getting drafted early/mid 2nd round is great. But getting drafted 2nd or 5th or 12th next year puts him in serious signing money territory. And as they always say, "the more money they invest in a draft pick, the more patience and willingness to get them to the show quickly".
That being said: thanks Jake for some great memories you made in P&G and have a great pro career!

Eric Andolsek had a legit 525 bench (no shirts, no spotters grabbing the bar, full ROM, etc.), 455 power clean, 750 squat. He was one strong sob. RIP.

And built like a square block of granite. Gone way too young!

We have had 1.5 years of mass deportations, detentions, and self-deportations. Have we seen a correlative drop in housing prices?

In case you haven't noticed we have only deported a small portion of the Biden open border illegal aliens that entered our country without proper vetting. Had blue haired white liberals gotten out of the way and not impeded ICE from doing their federally mandated jobs, we would have gotten many more illegals out of here. But the border policies of Biden-Harris(what a joke Border Czar) let them in much faster than they can be removed. Additionally we have only had 18 months of restoration of law and order in this Trump administration at this time. So let's all enjoy increased prices on food, fuel and housing.
That font looks like a clown newsletter mast head IMO. Much prefer GEAUX font, and besides someone in the AD authorized that to the tune of $250K fee to rebrand the whole marketing materials.

I remember when one end zone was LSU in p&g and the opponent's was painted and marked on the other...I liked that

I remember those well and used to look forward to busting out of the dark walkway into the bright lights of the field and see that glorious combination of green grass, bright stadium lights, and purple/gold and the opponents' colors. To a kid it was amazing!
But why give publicity to the opponent when national TV time is so precious to continually present "The Brand" to national audiences and potential recruits. Let them only see purple and gold!

He has completely outperformed his talent yet yall are upset that he's not better.

Agree with everything else you said about Gavin. Great kid, great baseball player and started pitching at LSU to get on the field more quickly. I always thought he would go back to INF but he didn't.
But don't undersell his pitching potential coming out of HS as he was 8-0 for Barbe against very good competition. Had an ERA almost ZERO and was dominant. Also was Gatorade POY in Louisiana his SR year, partly for his pitching accomplishments.
Only love for GG from here as I have loved seeing him play for LSU and he is indeed P&G to the core.

I don't think most people on this board remember how raw both Shaq and Stanley were their freshman seasons. It took awhile for both to hone their skills.

Stanley came to LSU much more skilled offensively than did Shaq. Shaq was very aweward and gangly but could block shots and rebound, even though bigger, stronger guys could push him around.
Stanley couldn't stay out of foul trouble and had trouble making good decisions & wouldn't work hard on the defensive end.
\Chris Jackson was the most fun to watch since The Pistol, His ability to elevate & shoot before a defender could get to the same height was unreal and he took over games many times.
Fun group to watch but as always with Dale teams, they didn't understand how to use the rules to their advantage and were fundamentally inadequate. Very frustrating.

I get what you are saying but it
Makes a huge difference to real hitters who know the zone and are disciplined. On the other hand, to indiscriminant free swingers it does not make much difference.

Would love it if they would not have widened the plate zone by 2" and extended the zone high and low by about 5% on each. So the challenge zone is not the real zone and therefore favors the pitchers.
Therefore, there was NO REASON for Arrambide to ask for a review that wasn't going to be overturned to a strike when the zone is so big. Wasted a challenge.
Been saying that all year. Little mistakes on D. Little mistakes at bat and on bases. We allow a few extra runs and miss picking up a couple runs and end up losing by 3. Or maybe it happens in 4-5 innings and we get run ruled. Happens over and over this season.

or anyone that downvotes is part of the problem!

I am NOT part of the problem! I did not walk a single batter, hit any, or throw any wild pitches. Additionally, I am not guilty of striking out or popping up weakly when runners were RISP. Similarly, Jay did not commit any of these mistakes that killed this team all season.
He signed transfer portal kids who either were not talented anough to play to our expected level (Jay's faulty) or simply could not perform under the bright lights of top level NCAA baseball (not Jay's fault)!
I am almost certain that Jay could coach at LSU for an additonal 20 years and not ever have a team that performed so poorly as this one.

Im pretty sure the portal was open while we were busy in Omaha winning the national title.

You are correct but it took much more time than just 2 weeks prior to CWS.

In 2025, the NCAA Men's College World Series (MCWS) took place from June 13 to June 22, 2025. The primary NCAA Division I baseball transfer portal window. for that season was open for 30 days from June 2 to July 1, 2025.

Got a Benjamin that we will NOT be having this discussion next year, that poor pitching kept the 2027 team from making a Regional or even being a high seed.
