This is not complicated (even for a gump). Take a gander at these stats......
College Career Stats
L. Fournette: Yds-3830 Avg-6.2
The top RB's from bama with at least 500Att:
D. Henry: Yds-3591 Avg-6.0
S. Alexander: Yds-3569 Avg-4.9
B. Humphrey: Yds-3420 Avg-5.6
K. Darby: Yds-3324 Avg-4.7
T.J.: Yeldon: Yds-3322 Avg-5.8
M. Ingram: Yds-3261 Avg-5.7
T. Richardson: Yds-3130 Avg-5.8
As you can see, LF had more yards rushing with a higher YPC Avg than every RB from bama since 1892 with at least 500Att.
So again, it wasn't "hype" that got him drafted 4th overall, it was production.
1.6 ypc when it mattered.

Why do you think LF got drafted 4th overall coming off an injury-plagued junior season and DH got drafted 45th after winning the Heisman?
Because the made a mistake

When did Fournette average almost a yard more per carry?

Production against who? When it mattered most? No! Cry baby L. Tourette
was a "NO SHOW" against the teams that could put a defense on the field.
Yep, "H--Y--P--E--R--B--O--L--I--C!"

This matters not. Trent Richardson was taken 3rd overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Sorry man, but Fournette faced substantially easier competition against the run that year but failed to have a more impressive season. He also padded his stats more against G5 teams, as Henry barely broke double digit carries in those games. Fournette had 52 carries in the two games against G5 schools; Henry had just 40 in 3 games against non-P5 competition.
Henry produced against much tougher defenses.

The 2015 season
Fournette average 6.5
Henry 5.6
6.5-5.6=.9
Which is pretty close to a whole yard.
The only think Impressive about Henry is his endurance.
95 more carries and only 200 more yards?

Does fournette have a single 200 yard game vs a team with less than 6 losses?
Posted on 4/9/20 at 6:03 pm to MoarKilometers
Maybe he should have gotten 44 carries VS Florida.
There is no world you can accuse Fournette of padding stats to defend a guy who had 95 more carries and only had 200 more yards to show for it.

I guess Henry should have been raking in more yards against inferior competition, like Fournette did. I mean, almost 20% of your yards against two G5 teams?

So we should celebrate he averaged 4 yards a Cary vs ULM? How about 5.3 vs Middle Tennessee State?
18 carries and didn’t break 100 yards vs Middle Tennessee State?
Also LSU didn’t play any FCS teams.
But didn’t Henry wrack up 271 yards vs Auburn’s 80th ranked rush defense?
That must have been because he was running wild. No way he got 46 carries vs those bums.

Also I never understood why Henry didn’t get way more touched his sophomore and freshman seasons. The few times I saw him carry the rock his freshman year I felt like he was a beast.
Join the club. Henry was an absolute BEAST his freshman season, but hardly ever got the ball. He almost decided to quit due to lack of playing time.
We actually lost the kick six game because Saban insisted on playing a hobbled TJ Yeldon over Derrick Henry. TJ couldn’t pick up 1 yard which would’ve sealed the game.
We also wonder why Josh Jacobs never even started once, and is now one of the leagues top backs.
Saban actually sucks at putting the depth chart together and ranking players, but our whole roster is good, so it usually works out.
With some better depth chart decisions, we probably have at least 2 more NCs.
If it weren’t for a near miracle in 2017, we would’ve missed another NC due to his refusal to play Tua

It's usually sub par pass blocking that keeps a RB from getting more carries.

Nooo... why do you guys have to read into stuff that isn't there? I had no idea on the game counts whatsoever and was genuinely just curious. Jeez, I don't keep up with LSU stats, Gomer.

VS top 10 rush defenses:
LF - 1.6 ypc
DH - 11.31 ypc
You feel free to brag about the differences when playing Auburn; I'll focus on when they both went against the best.
Hint: Fournette didn't look so good.

This matters not. Trent Richardson was taken 3rd overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.
The Titans took Pacman Jones with the #6 pick overall in the 2005 draft.
Occasionally, NFL GMs make bad decisions. Anyone who has followed the NFL for longer than thirty minutes understands this.

Alabama isn't Wisconsin
Auburn IS Auburn
Florida IS Florida
So yeah great "Top 10" rush defense who played exactly 0 top 25 rushing offenses.
