I'm surprised it's taken this long. This nil free for all was never going to last, it was either going to collapse under the weight of failed players that got paid millions, or title IX was going to torpedo it

Of course it does. How is this surprising?

DOE being disbanded will clear that up

What the hell does the Department of Education have to do with college?

Proportionally doesn’t necessarily mean equally. If it’s proportionate to revenue they may have to determine a minimum and then dispense the rest based on the revenue producing sports whether men or women.

That will hopefully topple the whole system and we can get to whatever is next a little quicker now.

ESPN has already started to push women’s sports a few years back.
Their ratings are in the toilet. So when advertisers pull back and the money and endorsements stop, this will collapse.
On another note, I don’t see how this impacts NIL as colleges do not get involved in those deals.
I’m pretty sure this applies to the schools paying a salary to athletes.
NIL is a personal contract between an individual and one player.

This is strategy to make college athletes into university employees. That way there’s no Title IX implications.

The DoE isn’t who you need to worry about in re Title IX. It’s a federal law. The courts are going to be the problem.
This will be the death knell for Title IX. I welcome this nonsense, so we can put that stupid shite to bed for good.

The DoE needs to be abolished. The federal government had no business in education. It's a state matter.
Someone is going to sue the DoE and they will win. DoE will lose.

While I agree with you, be prepared for quite a few states sinking further down the education pipeline. Priorities tend to be a disaster in certain areas

This is where college football breaks away from the universities and athletic offices transform to for-profit front offices. There will be a new league in 5 years and it will be comprised of the SEC & B10
