So you weren’t willing to pay as much as it would’ve cost to get a better coach?

Woodward wanted Fisher - it’s in the SI article. Fisher wasn’t interested so reached out to Kelly. Whether Woodward wanted Riley or not is unknown simply because the same article said Riley wasn’t interested in the LSU job. Woodward had moved on from him weeks ago after determining he wasn’t interested. Those are the facts

Both coaches wanted Florida, but as usual Florida went cheaper and hired the up and coming coach instead. Also a fact

Anything else is speculation.

Seems plausible. They have a personal relationship. That means a lot.

your entire post is speculation

The only verifiable facts are Riley signed with USC, Kelly signed with LSU, and Napier signed with Florida. I don't care how many articles are written from media members, they're speculating too based on bits and pieces of information they receive from various sources, sources that very well could be completely without merit. The problem is these sources aren't from within the AD, who are the only group of people who actually know how everything went down. I don't know why people choose to go down this road every time a coaching search happens.

It does, Wolfhound. Like I said it is a fascinating article to read.

Maybe so, but we don't really get into fighting with the power programs over coaches since Bob Stoops turned us down.

Pretty obvious Riley and Kelly were looking for phat pay days. Didn’t care what school it was.

However y’all settled for UlaLa’s coach lmao. Thanks for passing on Riley and Kelly for Napier. Florida continues to Florida! Zook, shark humper ,Mullens, and now Napier. Thank you for continuing to make sound choices
… Yes, this plus some.. Florida seemed pretty lazy in their search for a new coach… no way Napier was their top choice.. of course he may have been the only choice too..

I am so done with Florida. A lesser program goes and gets a coach like this and we go jump on some Rajun Cajun Coach O type jackass Billy Bob Napier. So tired of my Alma. What a complete joke. Then USC gets Riley. Absolute shite show Florida. You think Kirby is scared of Billy Bob? No."

I do not deny that Woodward would have an interest in Fisher. How much did he pursue him? Not sure. I doubt he took it far because he knew he could not outbid Texas A&M (we cannot) for his services. His only appeal would be their personal connection (which was not enough in this instance).

Honestly, Jimbo has a much better situation and contract terms at A&M than he would have had at LSU.

There’s no issue with Jimbo, It’s Texas 8&4 that’s the habitual loser, not Jimbo.

I’m a fan of Napier but I would’ve wanted Riley over Napier

How hard is it to understand that UF went after the guy who already proved he can build a program n change a culture over a guy who sustained the program he was handed that never took it any higher?

Florida made the obvious call here. You could make a case for Riley I guess but easy to see why they went with Napier.
