It’s honestly stupid to hire Napier over either of them.

difficult for anyone to believe that, all things being equal (like compensation), that UF would prefer Napier over either of Riley or Kelly.

Given their recent hiring history I can believe it. They’ve gone through 3 coaches and haven’t won the conference. They keep making decisions to keep going down the same road too.

It’s pretty obvious that they were both trying to drum up as much money from as many different big time programs as possible. To say these guys wanted UF, but UF just “chose” Napier, is a huge stretch and almost laughable.

Why? USC needs to regroup and stay relevant. A&M needed national credibility to go with their money. LSU didn't need either really, and UF doesn't. Nonetheless, LSU took the expensive splash route and UF settled on a traditional up and comer who was going to get plucked by a big program within a year or two regardless.

Maybe LSU's strategy will win the day, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't. I'd say it's more likely than not Napier at LSU would achieve results comparable to what Kelly will do.

Clearly you have no idea how agents work and can’t read properly! Wording means everything.

How many different versions are we going to hear from "sources"?

Of course their agents are going to contact them in hopes of driving the market.

So, let's say a poll were conducted 2 weeks ago nationwide asking who would you want as your coach - Riley, Kelly, or Napier? What do you think the results would be? I doubt Napier would get 20%.

LSU could have had Napier with one phone call. UF did not have the will to hire Riley or Kelly. It's ok. Napier may still work out but don't fool yourself as to the level of candidates here.

My guess they didn't think Kelly would be interested in the job. These little tweets are worthless because of that type of information.

Kelly was the only choice from the jump. Woodward is too smart to go after a grown adolescent like Riley. Being from Baton Rouge he knew Riley had no chest. And he is also too smart to hire an unproven commodity like Napier.

Exactly. And while I think Napier's going to be great, he is very much unproven.

No sane mind would pick Napier over Kelly, which is what the OP implies UF did. So really this thread is kinda pathetic as even if what OP cites were true, it would only make his team look even more stupid.

Anyone who believes Riley was touching the SEC automatically disqualifies themself from this conversation. That was nothing more than to show USC he was wanted.

Riley didn’t want any part of the SEC so that was a lie.

You mean their agent wanted to drive up the price as high as possible.

Florida is a great job and anyone would be a fool to not express interest.

I’d say your AD is a fool for hiring a sun belt coach who has never won the sun belt into such a desirable position but that’s just me

At least Woodward acts like he knows what he has

So, I am to believe that Florida had Reilly and Kelly wanting their job and they chose Napier over those two?

Jokes on us, they came to Louisiana and stole ULaLa's coach from right under out noses.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, and yet you still hired a Sun Belt coach from Lafayette, Louisiana.
