Deboer has won everywhere he’s been. Good hire. 10 win seasons ahead.

This is a good, solid hire that will keep Alabama from major decline. He’s won everywhere he’s been. He might not be Saban (who is?), but this is a good, safe hire that will keep Alabama relevant as they shift into the future.

Well done, Alabama. 9-10 win seasons are the floor and expectation with a hire like this. No one could guarantee Saban’s dominance over 15 years. But, this will be good for yall and provide stability.

Correction: I completely forgot about Washington under Peterson, even making the Playoffs in 2016. Still, the point remains. Deboer maintained excellence and even took them further. That’s what he’ll be asked to do at Alabama. I think he’s up to keeping Alabama stable and in the mix.

Maybe at first. But, the guy is a winner and took Washington from a dumpster fire to the title game. That’s huge.

He will be good. It’s up to him and Alabama if he will be great. Greatness is never guaranteed and has to be fought for, but this is a good, young, talented coach. I’m sure he will do well.

Alabama comes down a notch with Saban gone, as any school would. But, the foundation is there. Look at what Les Miles did after Saban left LSU. I expect no less from Deboer.

Thats a fair assessment. Saban era is gone but I had fun watching Bama football before greatness was guaranteed every season. I think DaBear can easily replicate something along the lines of Ryan Day at OSU

He literally took over for Peterson

They had a one year stop gap coach during the COVID year where they didn’t even play, but DeBoer inherited Chris Peterson’s team

Hardly a dumpster fire.

Wow, who does this remind me of? Hard nose coach from the PNW that is a Peterson disciple that was able to maintain those Peterson built teams.

The 2021 losing season was the first since 2009. That was not a hapless program when he took over.

“DaBear.”

Lol.

First I’ve seen of that.
Might be setting expectations a little too high.

But, you’re right. Alabama will be very good. Remains to be seen if they are great/dominant like under Saban, but the potential is certainly there with this coach. Like all things, that will have to be earned, but he seem up to the challenge.

Personally, I’m glad to see it. LSU is building something under Kelly and we won’t have to deal with Saban coming into Louisiana and taking our top recruits anymore because of his connections.

So, we accept the challenge of a Deboer led Alabama!

He and a lot of other non-Bama fans (mostly LSU fans) seem to now be whistling past the graveyard.

Oof. You’re right! Thanks for the correction! I totally forgot about that. They even made the Playoff under Peterson in 2016. Sheesh. I followed Washington this year because of the Penix-Daniels Heisman race, but pretty much ignore them most of the time.

Okay. Well, he’s still a very good coach and proved he could maintain a good team and take them further.

Now you mention him, a few years back, Peterson was the guy I would have wanted at Alabama. Too bad he's out of the game now.

That's good. But how is a guy named "DeBoer" not coaching at Arkansas?
I used to like "DeBoer's head" brand, but not if DeBoer's head coach at Alabama.
Seriously, I agree he is a good coach. Best choice for Alabama.

This is the reality.

It is a good hire.

It's a HR hire for most schools.

It probably means that if he proves to be a good fit (a legit question mark) Alabama is primed to have 10-11 win seasons.

More than likely, he's not going to win a bunch of titles and that's probably the case for any coach they were considering. Nothing you can do about that but appreciate the good times and a run that won't be replicated often, if ever.

Incorrect. He took over for Jimmy Lake, who ran that program into the ground in his two seasons.

Lake was there for two seasons and he was so bad that they fired him before the second season was finished. They lost 13-7 to fricking Montana in 2021.
