Wuerffel played while I was at Auburn (when we actually played every year). I loved the way he threw the ball. Definitely the best pure QB I had seen at the time, until guys like Tebow, Cam and Manziel came along.

I thought Eric Zeier was the greatest college QB of all time? Isnt that what UGA fans peddled for years ..

I don't know if Georgia fans have been "peddling" it. I am a UT fan, and Eric Zeier was a gamer...even when you knew he was going to throw it, he would pick you apart. I loved watching that guy play ball.

I am not sure if he is the greatest but he threw the football with the best touch I have ever seen. He had impeccable timing with his receivers.
Pound for pound he is probably the best and definitely ranks up there at the top.

I agree that he gets looked over as one of the all time best in the SEC. Coming from a State alum/fan he has always been one of my favorite SEC players.

Spurrier and Danny were a hell of a pair. I’m not sure any other coach could have gotten as much out of him
The Ole Ball Coach was an interesting motivator. He seemed to have a short hook for his starters to send messages. Whatever his intent, it worked. Great offensive football coach.

Seems like I recall Weurffel not getting the first snap of the season his Heisman year for some reason or another.

Contrary to what a lot of Gator fans believe, IMO Danny was the best QB to play at Florida and based on stats and the success of the team, he was one of the greatest COLLEGE QBs of all time.

I still remember the game he and Terry Dean combined for 7 ints... and still managed to beat Kentucky

He was my favorite. I liked the gators for a while as my second team because of him then I met some of their fans. I was really disappointed because he was right the opposite of their fans. Great guy. Great Quarterback. Gator fans, not great at all.

Even though he never really won any big games, I would take Aaron Murray over David Greene.

They were both very good, and both were likeable...or seemed to be from a fan perspective. Greene seemed like a really good clutch QB while Murray just chugged along and put up numbers regularly.

When you look at all the great QB's that have come through the SEC it boggles the mind.

Some of my all-time favorites were

Pat Sullivan-AU
Bert Jones-LSU
Jake Fromm (I just love the way he throws that deep out pattern)
Tim Tebow-FLA

There is no opposing QB I enjoyed watching more than Wuerffel. He is the best I have ever seen at throwing the fade route.

For whatever reason, I had a hard time trusting him. I was always afraid an INT was coming. I don't know why I felt that way.

Not going to change your mind. Mahomes was better. Too bad he didn't play in the SEC.

I absolutely love it when somebody puts a thread together that most on the Rant can get behind and the trolling is non-existent or at least kept to a minimum.

The Sate of Pennsylvania gives you the finger.

I don't think any "Greatest Ever" anything got pulled by his head coach as much as Danny W.

Jake Delhomme SB qb
Payton Manning SB qb
Eli Manning SB qb
Patrick Ramsey
Bobby Hebert
Doug Williams SB qb, first black qb to win the superbowl
David Woodley SB qb
Stan Humphries SB qb
James Harris SB qb
Kordell Stewert

Only Bert and Woodley went to LSU. Pretty stout list of qb's.

Not sure I would put Burrow in that group.

BUT...he showed me he was a great intangibles guy against us. I just couldn't say any one area of his game was great, but he kept going out there and pushing the ball down the field. He seemed to know when to turn it up a notch and pulled out a great play when it was needed.

A lot of people don't realize how many of those came out of Louisiana....I didn't realize all of those did. (Kordell Stewart, for one) Nice list and all good QBs.
