Wtf are you smoking tonight? Mullen did about as good of a job at State. Leach may be better, but I want to see more of a sample size.

Well, lets go see his recruiting classes at MSU vs. the one's he's pulling in at Florida, shall we?

Mullen at MSU:

2009 - #18
2010 - #30
2011 - #41
2012 - #22
2013 - #24
2014 - #36
2015 - #18
2016 - #28
2017 - #24

Mullen at UF:
2018 - #14
2019 - #9
2020 - #9

Pretty sizable differences in those classes between being at MSU and now at UF.

Add in the additional 5* and 4* transfers while at UF and it isn't even close... I think Dan Mullen is doing a pretty good job at UF. If he gets over the hump this year, might have a top 5 class here on out.

Yet never with a strong West. I know this takes thought, but break it down a bit.

Mullen was at State during the height of the division which CFB really had not seen. A Bama dynasty. LSU was great yearly. Auburn had multiple elite seasons including two title apprentices. Ole Miss was cheating. Arkansas even had a run with Bobby.

Miss State was good enough to win the East probably multiple times while he was there. The issue? The West was insanely loaded. They didnt have their big three fall apart. Nor did their bottom dwellers stay bottom dwellers. When you put into context just how brutal the West was, you understand why it's almost impossible to win the West at Ole Miss or Miss State with the powers not being weak.

Same with the East. If Georgia, Florida, or Tenn are elite...it doesn't matter how good the coach is at Vandy or UK..they arent winning it. James Franklin never got close to what Dan did, and Vandy really is not much worse than M8ss State historically. Turns out James is pretty good.

I’m not sure I agree that 10-15 spots is that sizeable tbh (looking at last three vs. first three)

You cant read. So let me put it more plain for you.

I didnt say win the west. I said to have a winning record in conference play. He could lose to Bama and LSU and have a winning record in conference play every year. Hell... he could lose to Bama, lsu, and auburn every season and have a winning record in conference play.

He only did it once.
And that has been done 2 other times in the past 30 years or so.

He is propped up like some miracle worker for being better than average once in 9 seasons at a lower than average team.

He is propped up like some miracle working for having a great year where he only beat a bunch of 5 loss teams. He lost to a triple option that season. As a matter of fact. He lost to every good team he played that season. And that 1 season is evidence of his greatness.

Sherrill finished 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the SEC West 6 times in 13 years. Mullen had one 2nd place in the SEC once time in 9 years. He finished 4th or 5th the other 8 seasons.

LSU, Auburn and Alabama all basically had a National Championship roster in his time there and he was at the worst school in the West.

His worst crime is making them seem respectable enough to where you guys completely forgot what a shite school MSST was.

Just look at how MSST fans wrote him off and had to immediately fire the guy who took over for him. You guys really just have no idea.

Dan Mullens Avg Record at Ms. State: 7.5-5
Joe Moorhead’s Avg Record at Ms. State: 7-6

In Mullen’s 8th season as head coach he lost to a South Alabama team that went 6-7 in the Sun Belt and a BYU team with a 1st year head coach. This “coaching with vastly inferior talent vs other teams” card is routinely overplayed by Florida fans.

Before Mullen got there in 2009, their record through 2001 was:

29 - 65.

After his 8 years it was:

69 - 46.

The point of a coach is to do better than his predecessor.

Again, Mullen's fundamental issue is that he made Mississippi State decent and people forgot what dogshit they were before arrived.

Literally a complete turnaround.

Kind of like that time he took over a 4 - 7 Florida and immediately went 10 - 3 and 11 - 2. To diminish his success at Mississippi State is so unbelievably stupid.

If you’re going to post stats, make sure they are correct. He was 69-46 in 9 years at State. A vastly different win percentage than your skewed opinion shows. Or 7.5-5 on average.

As stupid as posting incorrect and easily verified stats on a message board?

"u made mistake u dum" - guy who doesn't want to admit 29 to 69 is markedly better. Mullen made Mississippi State better.

Sorry that hurts your narrative.

Sorry you look like a dumbass when you post incorrect stats to support your opinion haha.

The guy’s a good coach but this bullshite Florida fans blow up each other’s arse that he is a legend is insane given that he averaged 7-5 seasons at State and literally beat no one that finished highly ranked.

The narrative you speak of, and that yall continuously pump into the ethos, is acting like what he did at State was continuously winning at unprecedented levels given his severe lack of talent. The guy was losing to South Alabama and BYU in Year 8. He averaged 7-5 seasons. He did well for State but the narrative y’all pump is fricking absurd.

Not a single Florida fan gives a frick about what he did at Miss State. His ceiling there was 10 wins with the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Because it’s Mississippi State. His floor here so far has been 10 wins and a NY6 Bowl win with Feleipe Franks.

If you can’t see what’s being built in Gainesville, just take a peak up at the AP poll.

Mullen is the best coach in the east. He will match up with anyone with his version of the power spread. His defenses tend to be very active. The spotlight has been on his recruiting since forever. But hey, that was also the slight on Steve Spurrier, so he's in good company down there. When he has the guns, he's going to be a hard out.

Leach did in one game what Mullen only did a couple times in many many years. Mullen is a good recruiter but the dude can’t coach.

Let's see if he can do it consistently now.
