Through the "church" of Dabo. Pretty genius to figure their way into the "market". Churches are beyond a lot of oversight and are tough to crack when investigating such matters. Truly wonder how many other programs have the church tie in helping efforts to recruit.

If you can’t land any elite talent coming out of HS, there’s no shame living off the scraps of more successful programs imo

The downside is that Mullen needs the transfers every season.
You get 4-5 years with a high schooler.
You get 1 or 2 with a quality transfer.

But if he can continually hitch his wagons to transfers, he may be able to make it work. But an off year in the transfer market and 3 star recruiting could lead to some bad years.

Wtf are you smoking tonight? Mullen did about as good of a job at State. Leach may be better, but I want to see more of a sample size.

You get talent where you can get it.

The DL with the most sacks last year was a transfer (Greenard).

Also, didn'tchya boy Kirby just take in not one, but two transfer Quarterbacks and wasn't that a sign of him being a good coach?

Florida is likely the leader for Bowman’s services and might be able to play as soon as next season. The Gators heavily pursued Bowman and many thought Florida was the leader until Bowman committed to Clemson in May of 2019. Lakeland is just two hours from Gainesville.

Yeah, we also just pulled four crystal balls to Florida. Newberg is the biggest deal out of all of them since Berg is on the Big 3 Rollup (a podcast that details Florida, Miami and Florida State) and he's the FSU commentator for that podcast.

IF we land him it would be sick

The portal is Mullen's new Juco only much better then being limited to just Mississippi juco problem children

Bowman and Nayquan would make a currently underrated sick arse duo tho no doubt about it

It's really not much different than what Mullen was doing at State with JuCo players

That was the sign of superb recruiting.

Jamie Newman opted out and JT Daniels wasn't even fully cleared until this week.

He can recruit his arse off traditionally, but that isn't superb at all.

Keep in mind: Leach is also enjoying what Mullen built recruiting wise and through infrastructure laid. Before Mullen got there in 2009, their record through 2001 was:

29 - 65.

After his 8 years it was:

69 - 37.

That's a hell of a turn around. He had the same amount of 9 win seasons (or more) as all of MSST football since 1976.

You have to go back to 1940 to get the same amount of bowl wins in the history of MSST.

Mullen built that program so that Leach could be successful (Leach is an amazing coach, but he's lucky that Mullen was there to improve everything).

Getting them both to sign with UGA is superb.

That's pretty much the point of my post.

Are you implying that Kirby doesnt recruit good QBs? I'd take Kirbys lot over MuLLLen.

Recruiting is half of coaching. Just ask Bill Parcells.

I think there are 4 starters on State's team that Mullen's staff signed. Mullen screwed State with his lazy recruiting at the end. He loaded up on JuCo players before exiting.

I'm not talking about current starters.

I'm talking about actually giving the team contemporary prestige, how they upgraded facilities while he was HC They continued after he left, too but the reason for the money was the revenue generated by the football program.

He was literally the reason football came "back" to Mississippi State. Before that they had little interest, really no wins and their "best" coach before Mullen was known for getting castrated by the NCAA.

Mullen built that rock.

-rolls eyes-

1 season with a winning conference record in 9 seasons.

That, my friend, had been done before a couple of times in the past 3 decades.
