that makes no sense unless you are only looking at this season. The SEC was cake this year too. All of the conferences were down.

Miami last year and UNC 3 years ago would have made the playoffs if they had beat Clemson in the ACC title game.

FSU won the conference 3 straight years and won a natty Winston's first year. and made the playoffs Winston's last year.

you have a short memory.

if the SEC is so good, why does Alabama rarely lose it..Answer...it isn't that good.

Correct. FSU played us from '79-'83 all at TS. Someone better informed than me needs to confirm but I think FSU was debating whether to continue their football program when Bowden came onboard.

He sold it as we'll play anybody any where and meant it.

I would also point out FSU had to square-off with the U and UF (Spurrier's tenure) were at their peak. From '83 to '01, FL schools won 8 natty's, UM ostensibly played for 3 others ('85, '86, and '92), UF 1 ('95). Not sure about FSU.

Bowden built FSU. They had a history comparable to mississippi state before Bowden came along.

On top of that, he wouldve had several more titles if not for teams like Miami and florida in the 90s.

He hasn't quite reached the sustained success of Bowden.

He's an easy #2 though. The list of "great ACC coaches" is VERY short.

Not quite, but he's already tied him in title game wins.

FSU also lost the first BCS title game to Tennessee in ‘98. That’s another runner up finish

Bowden went 2-4 in title games. It's his fault and his fault only he doesn't have more titles (and don't say shite about luck considering what happened in 93 and 2000).

You can say that about a lot of coaches. Saban would have more if not for Dabo and Meyer, Dabo would have more if not for Saban, etc.

A lot of Dabo’s accomplishments will be negated once its discovered he paid players. I know for a fact Tee Higgins got paid.

Probably also something you can say about every national championship winning coach ever

It took Bowden 37 years as HC to win a NC Dabo 7

bowden had to contend with UF in the 90s which was a top 3-4 program of that decade. Clemson has to content with...uh, va tech? FSU that's good every few years? SC?

Dabo isn't close to what bowden accomplsihed.

Tee Martin admitted to getting paid while at UTK so...

something tells me the mass exodus of elite ATL players to UT back in the 90s (coleman, grant, lewis, etc) wasn't just because they loved the color orange

Are you saying money is the only thing that made Tee Higgins pick Clemson over Tennessee?

And what exactly does that have to do with Tee Higgins.

What exactly does your allegation of Tee Higgins getting paid have to do with anything?

He asked if Dabo would be considered the greatest. I said probably not once it comes out that Dabo is paying players. I didn’t argue whether it was right or wrong. I just gave my opinion on why Dabo will not be considered. Dabo is way too reckless with his payments and will probably get caught.

Can't have it both ways. You think Bowden wasn't paying players? The guy who got busted in 3 different decades for cheating?

The top 6 SEC teams this year went 5-1 in their bowl games. the only team that lost was Georgia.

Alabama beat Oklahoma
LSU beat UCF
A&M beat NC State
Florida beat Michigan
Kentucky beat Penn State

The SEC had 6 teams finish in the top 16. Tell me again how "not that good" the SEC is again. Yes, Clemson has a very good football team, but you don't need to make a terrible argument as to the relative strength of the SEC to make Clemson look better. They don't need any help as they proved they were the best team in the country this year, the ACC being a weak conference or not.

Do people not always accuse Bryant and Saban of the same? Yet they are always at the top of the list for GOAT discussion. Everyone used to call FSU Free Shoes University after the shopping spree scandal in the 90's, doesn't ever come up when discussing Bowden very much
