i have no control over what the building is named. i don't care either way. you don't either. lol
i've proposed naming it Watson-Renfrow Hall. i'm sure Bama fans can get behind it. Or how about Lawrence-Ross Hall.
this will promote racial unity

You could change the name, but you don't.
"i don't care"
and there you have it

a building can't be racist, race baiter.
the shape of tillman the building is basically an alternative logo for Clemson. i like the building and clock tower buildings in general.

only the board of trustees can change it
Posted on 1/18/19 at 7:29 pm to Tillman
i would like for it to be changed as a social experiment to see if the racebaiters are satisfied. i predict they would not be.

Ben Tillman's shameful legacy is now Clemson's
Clemson didn't honor him with a building in his name until 1946, nearly three decades after the man known as "Pitchfork" Ben Tillman died and 54 years after the structure was built.
At the time, Clemson's leaders knew exactly what they were doing. Not only was Tillman a former South Carolina governor and a former U.S. Senator, the one-time "officer" in the paramilitary group known as the Red Shirts spoke fondly of his murderous past, often celebrating his lead role in the slaughter of several African-American men — some militia members, others National Guardsmen — at the 1876 Hamburg Massacre. He also famously bragged about assassinating an African-American state legislator. Clearly, Tillman was proud of his role as a villain. Sadly, this knowledge did not dissuade Clemson from honoring a clearly dishonorable man in the days after the Second World War.
the Clemson board decided that the Tillman's name would remain on the university's most prominent building. Board chairman David Wilkins — a former speaker of the S.C. House and U.S. ambassador — issued a statement, one that was both tone deaf and hypocritical.

it was Democrats who changed the building name to Tillman.
i'm a Republican.
i think the majority of the board of trustees are Democrats. colleges are generally run by far left people these days.

some people say Bear Bryant was a racist
LINK
i've never heard any clemson students/grads/fans talking up Tillman the person. i've heard alabama fans gush over bear bryant.
when i wast at clemson in late 90s, i had no idea who tillman was. i assumed he was a dean or something at clemson.

Benjamin Tillman was a white supremacist that opposed Civil rights.
Paul Bryant ended segregation for Alabama athletics.

he may have ended it when he saw alabama couldn't win without black players.
lol
only reason fans of Clemson's rivals talk about tillman is to do negative recruiting against clemson.
SC has been doing it for years but Clemson's recruiting has trended up.

Careful. Bryant has ties to all of your championship coaches.

nobody would have heard of the coaches at clemson if clemson had not made them head coaches.
clemson made them, not alabama.
alabama fired dabo like a dog...clemson saw his greatness.
Dabo would probably have failed at any place but Clemson.
Why? B/c Clemson is a magical place.

dabo lost his job at alabama. he was basically a waterboy at that point.
if Dabo learned football at alabama, why does Clemson look so different on offense than Alabama.
alabama basically never loses to teams that have offenses similar to alabama.

A case could be made Ford hurt the Clemson program long term.
If we got to give Bama credit for Ford's success at Clemson, we also got to give Bama credit for the NCAA violations that happened during the Ford era.

Not yet. Dabo may eventually pass Bowden but he has yet to pass the longevity test.
Posted on 1/19/19 at 6:50 pm to FredBear
Bowden won in what for most years was the weakest football conference in the country. He was also one of the most crooked men to ever coach college football. But even so, Dabo still has a way to go before he passes Bowden in football lore...

It is harder to win a natty now with conference title games and needing to win 2 playoff games.
Bowden never won a natty 2 out of 3 years.
