My youngest son is 8 years old and in the second grade. He has been alive for 5 NCs. He was right there with me watching them all even if he doesn't remember it. Think about that. How old would any other college football fan have to be to watch (or even been alive) their team win five national championships.

Started going to Denny stadium in 63 or 64. The south end zone was moveable bleachers. Over the years Bryant lost two games there. I was at both.
To see that man walk out on to the field and lean up against the goal post is something I will never forget.

They key is recruiting players from rich families.

Just looking at all their players cars you can tell they are all well off.

Oh sorry, I thought you were referring to UConn's Women's basketball as a sport.

Carry on.

Even crazier stat. During that run I have consumed zero Pringles. On its face its not much but when you really stop to think about it, its a lot like this thread.

During that time I have watched zero Kentucky basketball games. On the face of it, its not much to look at or follow.......

and UK basketball has won less than half the number of NC that Alabama football has won.....

I am 39 and have been alive for 8 also. I don't remember the first 2.

78,79,92,09,11,12,15,17

I have a 9 year old that has been alive for 5.
I have a 6 year old that has been alive for 4 (she was born a week before Game of the Century but I got a pass to attend game from wife).
I have a 1 year old that has been alive for 1.

An unbelievable run when you think about it. I absolutely do not take it for granted as I was in school for some dark times (Dubose/Fran).

I graduated in 2000. My first year was Stalings' last. Dismal, dismal time.

When thinking about the most dominant teams in sports, especially collegiate sports, a lot of people will automatically think of the UConn Women's Basketball team.

Over the last nine years, UConn has won the exact same number of National Championships as Alabama's football team.

The job Saban has done in Tuscaloosa is absolutely remarkable, and I'm not sure that we will ever see anything like it again.

Quality post.

I pity the fool who follows Saban

30 years is a pretty big "exception".

Alabama has never gone 30 years without winning a NC (well, except 1892 to 1925, Alabama first)

59 and have seen 12 as well.

The ones we didn’t win back in the 70’s still irk me...talk about spoiled.

And the 66 team should have won - 11-0

left two on the table vs. ND head-to-head and ND was gifted one in the 70s - easily could/should have 3 more.

Stated before a good while ago, but am 85, and saw my first live Bama game in 1945 - Tennessee at Legion Field. Harry Gilmer, etc. After that season, beat Southern Cal in the Rose Bowl.

The strangest aspect of this 10-year run is that the only time we truly got our arse kicked was by Stephen Garcia.

Not quite, Zeke and Cardale pretty much beat the shite out of you up and down the field...score was closer than the game. OSU had you guys outgained by 200 yards at the half. Good game, but from the mid 2nd on, they prey much had your number.

And yet we had the ball with a chance to tie the game with less than a minute to go. Not exactly getting one's arse kicked.

You can always tell the L7U fans that have seen the
7-0 run that Bama's been on against their team of quitters.

You won 1 in 31 years. Definitely not what I would call "winning one every few years".
