The cowbells are NOT ringing while opposing team is at the line. We get fined $50,000 anytime we do that. I wish people would stop making shite up,
Have State fans actually convinced themselves that this is true? You can hear folks still ringing them before every single play. Sure the vast majority of folks stop but there are still others, most likely the drunks folks, that keep on clanging.

I notice one thing common about this thread. The people bitching like little babies are teams that got their arse beat by MSU or some of the Bama fans trying to act like the only reason MSU almost won that game was because of the cowbells.
Y'all don't ring them when your getting your shite pushed in.

You've been such a tough guy posting 500 times since pulling out last second win. It's so typical of you talking shite now but during the game you were shitting your pants like a pro, boy.

but if used during the play MSU should be charged with a penalty.
You could hear a few folks not respecting the rules and ringing them during live plays late in the game. Probably a few drunk fans

Cowbells are not as annoying as the plethora of irritating Piped-In (Pre-recorded) music that's taking over SEC stadiums.
It's making all the Marching Bands almost invisible and a non-factor at games. Band members put in too much hard work and practice to have their contributions over shadowed like this.
It's not the freaking NFL. It's college football and it's totally destroying the atmosphere. Let the Bands play.
LSU fans have raised hell with the LSUAD and they've already cut back the PIM significantly, with the goal of having it all eliminated completely............

What? I've posted like 12 times today... and most of them have nothing to do with Miss state.

completely agree about the PIM - but the Cow Bells are ridiculous and must be stopped. I went to a game at MSU 20 years ago and have never been back because of those horrible jangling bells. The SEC has to rule them out, start fining MSU big money and penalize MSU on the field when they break the rule.
No patron should be allowed into an SEC stadium with an artificial noisemaker.

And you should stop eating play-doh, however neither is likely to happen.

Aggies and Mizzou are more annoying than Cowbells.

I blame Jay Jacobs. He helped MSU keep them.

As a non SEC fan can someone explain to me why they have a cowbell tradition? Is this a story where someone's old granny brought a cowbell to a game in 1930 and Mississippi State won the game or something?

Those are not allowed to be played during the play though. The cow bells are used to to increase noise making it more difficult for the offense.
People who say this have either never been, or are talking out of their arse. Cowbells stop ringing when the QB goes over center.

They are noisemakers. They are ringing them as the qb is trying to clap his hands to initiate plays. It is a sound that, along with voice, that does affect play and flow of the game. They should be outlawed.
People say the main reason they haven't yet is because State really hasn't been relevant. Almost Saturday night.
They should be outlawed like they are in these situations everywhere else, and when the team is penalized a few times, it would stop. NCAA should level this playing field. They look extremely foolish allowing one team to get away with it.
