We don't ring them because they are loud, we ring them because its a tradition dating back many decades. Its fun that they are loud, but the noise on the field is actually louder when the fans put down the bells and yell.

Right.

our AD and Mullen alike asked the fans to not hurt the Universiry and spread the message. We now call it "Ring Responsibly."

I don't know if that's true and kinda doubt it is. But if it is - if Moo St fans (who we know are retarded) can follow common sense guidelines, it makes our (LSU) fans look even more stupid for not being able to rein in STTDB during Neck and getting it banned.

Fun fact: This is how David slayed Goliath. There wasn't a word for "Cowbell" back then so they just called it a sling.

You are wise beyond your years, Skwatch.

Samuel described David as "ruddy, with bright eyes, very handsome" Obviously an MSU man from the get-go

I think he might have been a goat or sheep farmer too. Hence the bell and maroon garb.

He was a noble herdsman who fought lions bare-handed.

The maroon came later, once he became royal.

Yeah, you follow the rules, until it's crunch time and then I'm hearing lots of bells. Lots of bells I'm hearing. Pretty, pretty, pretty much noise while the quarterback is initiating plays.

What's wrong with you people? Do you carry them because you don't want to do a stop and chat? I mean, who carries a bell around?

Sure, when I’m in social situations I always hold onto my glass. It makes me feel comfortable and secure, and I don’t have to shake hands.

If you're ringing that bell in my face, and clankin' old grandpa in the head, you win, no stop and chat. Congrats.

Well we've beaten you 4 out of the last 5 times we played in cowbell stadium and 8 out of the last 10 overall, so I wouldn't get too cocky.

2007 was before the rule was put in place to control when fans ring. It doesn't really bother me. I'm just trying to help you. You're embarrassing yourself.

Incorrect. They were banned from '74-'10, and then the cowbell compromise came into being which states that they shall not be clanged from the time the center is over the ball until the play is whistled dead.

The 'Cowbell Compromise' is being compromised.

Nah, the team that loses 80% of the time is the loser. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

Sound travels at 343 m/s. The bells have stopped ringing at precisely the correct time, but the sound continues to travel and reach your ears after the action. Sorry if you are determined to fight the laws of physics.

We law-abiding Bulldogs have only a one word answer to your complaints : Science

Well shite, maybe we shouldn't play the games then.

LSU ain't beating State next year, either, but you will have your all time record to keep you warm.

HA! I reckon your open ended stadium defies the laws of physics then. Carry on.

Well, it is built on a cursed native -American burial ground.

Stranger things have happened in that stadium

I very well know this. Was a misplaced Bama fan getting my degree over there in the early 80's.

What is incorrect about what I said. Prior to 2010 people brought them in and rang them all the time even though they were technically illegal. Nobody really cared while Croom was coaching...but Mullen came in and won a few games and everyone started crying again. In 2010 the rule was made to allow them. His reference to being at a game in 2007 was prior to the rule. That is factually correct.

Well, they vote on renewal of the rule every year. We'll see how your AD votes. Hint: he was responsible for the rule being put in place to begin with. Butthurt fans are the only ones who complain about it.
