They're pretty annoying. I think even vuvuzelas would be an upgrade

Yeah, your Vuvuzela, or airhorn, or any noisemaker OTHER than the league-approved cowbells would get taken away by security.

That simply isn't true. When the opposing center gets over the ball, the cowbells stop. These days a lot of teams keep getting signals from the sideline while the center is over the ball, but the cowbells are not ringing during that critical point. Sure, You might hear a couple keep clanging, but they couldn't possibly affect the play.

Nope

We'll give them up when every other SEC school unplugs their "mic-men" and their pumped in crowd/animal noises blaring over the stadium speakers.

I actually believe their fans do a much better job of controlling them than in years past. I also believe they are so annoying that anyone subjected to it for any amount of time can't speak objectively about their use of them.

My uncle had a cowbell intentionally slammed on his head at the egg bowl in 2015. He had to leave the game and go get stitches. Cowbells are not only a nuisance they are dangerous.

No, I don't see anything wrong with this. We made a deal with the SEC. Let us have our cowbells, and we promise to only ring them during the appropriate moments in the game. If we screw up, then the bells can be taken away by the league.

No other noisemakers are part of this deal, and MSU has a responsibility to not allow them in the stadium just like every other SEC school. If opposing fans want to bring cowbells and ring them responsibly, then that's fine.

I'm on record on the tRant archives as stating that I don't like to be within 30 yards of a cowbell. They're disturbingly loud. I sit in the old-fart seat with earbuds in the entire game. But they are tradition and no more of an advantage than the pumped in noise at other stadiums.

Opposing fans should stay home if they hate cowbells so much.

Pom poms aren't artificial noisemakers. They're just gay.

They've always been illegal, but the SEC let them get away with it because their stadium was so much smaller than the rest. They were tolerable before they closed in the end zone, but now that they've finally upgraded from their high school stadium the SEC should start penalizing the team and school when they are used.

Could you imagine how loud it'd be if one of the 100K stadiums got to use something like that?

What is "artificial noise", exactly? Noise is noise. All noise is just longitudinal pressure waves in a material medium. Your own body's interpretation of these pressure wave determines how you react to the "noise".

It's your fault, not the innocent cowbell

Kind of like the domination that teams with 100K stadiums have over smaller stadium schools?

Why do we have to keep repeating the rules in a single thread. The SEC created a special exception for "traditional noisemakers". There is only one traditional noisemaker, and that is MSU's cowbells. No other university can claim the use of noisemakers under this exception.

We have specific rules to follow with respect to using the cowbells, and if we break those rules then the SEC will fine us, and eventually will take away the cowbell exception to the noisemaker rule. We don't ring the bells when the center is over the ball, and why would anyone care if we ring them at other times? Its just noise.

If you don't like the way they sound, then stay home. But from a competition perspective, if we are following the rules then what is the harm?

There was a sideline segment done on how much the cowbells affect the snap. State fans can keep telling this bold faced lie if they want, but none of us actually believe you.
